Ending F2P & Veteran arguments

D'oh, just posted in one of the many other topics on this subject (zzzz). Stay in this section, create another sub-forum inside this one for vets if you must, but we're still a lot closer to f2p than those with active subscriptions (in terms of gearing/spells/glyphs)

I am able to see who voted. I had the option to show it publicly and I am hoping I can change it.

I will personally do the math and subtract people who are not associated with f2p. Investigate which of the voters are associated with f2p. Tbh no one just comes and votes on random polls for no reason. I also expected responses like this ...

People see their side of the vote not going well and their like "oh shit I better do w|e I can to make this poll not count"...

Not saying this how you feel but that I expected posts like these

therefore all level 20 and below are f2p. you do not have to pay to play these levels. but you can if you want to, making it p2w. levels 21 and above are p2p since you need an active subscription to play them.

although this breaks the intended usage of the terms f2p, p2p and p2w since they should be describing the game as a whole, not to classify players within the same game.

as a game classification, WoW is f2p since it meets those 2 criteria. you do not need an active subscription to access at least some content of the game, but you can choose to pay to access all the other content. also f2p p2w since while paying for the other content, you can make your level 20s really strong and still use them without paying again.

at least after 6.1. before 6.1, it was a hybrid of f2p and p2p since you can access some content without paying. but once you pay, you can no longer access any content unless you start a new account. it was only p2w for p2p vs f2p. there were no p2w for p2p vs p2p.

The question of where veteran threads and guides should be should not be effected by the fact that the restrictions on it after the sub runs out. EVERY QUESTION, GUIDE, AND RATING THREAD MADE IN THE SINCE VETERAN CAME OUT HAS BEEN ABOUT THINGS DONE DURING THE TIME THE SUB IS ACTIVE. Whether it be doing proffesions to 225, which chants to use, which new gear is attainable that f2ps CANT GET. Inoobupro used exploits to have f2p account with the same gear and chants as veterans, he also had the same restrictions. And the WHOLE community shunned him and pitied him for using the gear and other advantages. They didnt shun him because he exploited, because tons of exploiting for f2p achievements, tabard, toys and so on has gone on thur the ages without any problem. It was the fact that he had enchants that 24s would use, guild heirlooms and 225 profs. At the very least every question pertaining to anything other than the f2p restrictions should be in the 20-29 section. Which leaves like 3-5% of questions / threads in the f2p section. This isnt a battle of morals, the ppl who want veteran to stay in the f2p section more than likely have been f2ps and dont want to be considered anything else because of the huge segregation throughout the years, But technically and logically speaking they should not be in the f2p forums because 80% of the ppl here will have little to no idea of how to help a veteran, while the 20-29 community willl have 100% of their people able to answer and weigh in on their questions and concerns
 
You have to pay a continuing subscription to play in an XP locked BG bracket below 20, so no, being below a certain level does not make you F2P.
 
I think that vet enchant guides should be on 20-29, but basically everything else we share w/ f2p, as long as they aren't enchant guides they are still 20 and most of us still have f2p sets for war games. I think that's the main difference between 21-29, tbh we should just make a 20 forum and a 21-29 and vets can post their enchant guides in 21-29, but gearing should stay in 20. Just make a tag like [Vet] or [F2P] if the post is only about those respectively, but in general we share everything else besides chants.

While the sub is active they will be playing at 20.
When the sub runs out, they will be playing at 20.

Wrong. These are things that either purist F2Ps, or those too cheap to contribute to a game that they are playing can't get, and rightly so. Any reasonable person could be expected to pay a small amount to get access to that gear, so it's not CAN'T GET, it's WON'T GET.

And that entire argument is completely irrelevant, because when he did that Veteran Edition wasn't a thing, and you would require a continuing subscription to access what he had. Now you only need to pay a small amount once for the upgrade.

Your not having access to Veteran gear is a self imposed restriction, either over unwillingness to financially contribute even a little bit to a game you play, or stupid pride over being 'pure'. Meanwhile the self imposed restriction of not being able to access any other bracket does at least have some merit, on the grounds that what you have to pay for a subscription is considerably more.

This site is about communities of players, not just logic and technicalities. That is why the 20-29 and F2P sections are separate. Because there are conditions in the game that prevent those 2 groups from being just one community. That has nothing to do with what gear they have, or even what level they're at. It is and always has been about those game features that permit communities to form in game, namely guilds and chat. F2P remains a separate entity due the the simple fact that an F2P player cannot take part in any other bracket, because they cannot take advantage of those features.

A Veteran Edition account is part of the F2P community, because just like a Starter Edition account, they are excluded from fully taking part in any other. They may have access to chat and guild while subscribing, but then if they wanted to be a part of that community, why would they play at 20 when they have all the other brackets to play? Because they intend to stop subscribing at some point, at which they will once again be restricted in which community they have access to.


As for your made up numbers? I think the reality is far closer to being that those who are willing to pay a little for access to veteran gear are the majority, along with plenty of F2P players also having plenty of knowledge of other brackets, because playing one does not exclude you from playing another, any more than not paying for one account excludes you from paying for another.

Considering a ftp druid can get 13% haste while a vet druid can get almost 50% there is no reason none besides the fact that our gear is same but the thing is we are not the same we live in seperate world's


Look at the vet in my Sig I am not butthurt believe me
 
i honestly don't know, most of the old trial members had some of these things back in the old days before they heavily nerfed what we now know to today as restricted. over 100 primary professions, had access to chat, could go into guilds, go to outland, northrend, dks and etc.

if ya pay 15 bucks and stick around in our bracket with most of the old twinks had, it shouldn't be a big deal. the only major change is when becoming a vet, ya lose the "pure" aspect of the ftp bracket but your still part of this bracket because ya don't pay the additional fee with the game.

going to be interesting to see as to how this badge option in 6.1.2 would turn out. if this happens we'll probably see lvl. 100s ftps, that will be something.

I think its great that you started this it really should be decided. For me, as being pure for 6 years, i would like Vet's to get their own section, mainly because i am a lover of organization. I also think they should get their own section because it would be more convenient for vet's and f2p twinkers.
 
dunno why this is so hard for everyone, its still p2p / f2p depending on what gear you use

go to whatever section is appropriate
 
why are you guys so butthurt? it doesnt matter if vet threads are in this section or in the 29s, just type [vet] in the thread title and everything is fine..
i voted for "stay in f2p section", simply because this bracket doesnt need another sub section.. 1 section for all, f2ps/veterans/p2ps SHOULD be enough but sadly both, f2ps and p2ps have ppl who are retards and need their own section because they think they are special.. get over yourself

I did the same thing whenever I felt the urge to play WoW but didn't want to pay for a subscription. I probably started a good 10-15 different starter accounts with different emails and I have lost them all. Even low level bg's with crap gear satisfied me back then haha.
