I recently got into F2P after being away for many years but I'm not sure how to level enchanting.
I have Draenor Enchanting 100/100 but cannot enchant any of my WoD ilvl 87 epics
I cannot level Cataclysm Enchanting because I cannot use the AH to buy the dust. And all the loot I disenchant from Cata dungeons isn't the right stuff for Cata enchants.
to do WOD enchants, do not use the enchant box, have your character screen open to put the enchant directly on the item or enchant a scroll and then use the scroll on item
for CATA enchant mats you have to build up gold and buy gear from CATA gear vendors to DE. https://www.wowhead.com/item=77146/soulgaze-cowl there are several vendors next to this one. for greens to DE used to be able to kill the leftover CATA mobs still in barrens but not sure if we are able to loot at 20
There is a handy guide written by a cool F2P druid that covers everything F2P related, including profession rotation and the easiest way to get mats for each expansion:
Pick up Enchanting. Only level an expansion if you need a specific recipe, I have listed the BiS category and stat scaling for (lvl 20 / lvl 29) to make the decision easier. Start with WoTLK, WoD and Vanilla. Also, keep in mind that you can level up by disenchanting. DE vendor items and drops until 25 skill, before you start spending your mats on recipes.
* Boots - Minor Speed(225 skill) - BiS Moving Speed (10%) The only enchant that stacks with racials like Quickness, abilities like Cat Form, talents like Trailblazerand other enchants like Gift of Versatility
* Boots - Greater Agility(295 skill) - BiS Agility (3 / 4)
* Bracers - Superior Strength(295 skill) - BiS Strength (3 / 5)
* Bracers - Superior Versatility(270 skill) - BiS Versatility (3 / 5)
* Weapon - Lifestealing(300 skill) - BiS Damage + Lifesteal Proc (~30 + ~30)
* 2H Weapon - Crusader(300 skill) - BiS Strength Proc (25 + ~200 heal / 42 + ~350 heal)
* 2H Weapon- Superior Impact(295 skill) - BiS Feral Weapon Dmg (7 / 7 weapon dmg) The recipe is GFd (or extremely rare) but still available on the AH
* Shield - Vitality(280 skill) - BiS Versatility (3+3 / 4+4)
5.3.2. Level Outland Enchanting (guide)
- Buy and DE uncommon-quality weapons from Dealer Jadyan (limited availability, ~3-5 min respawn time) for lower-level mats. Buy and DE rare-quality and epic-quality items from G'eras for shards and crystals.
* Gloves - Major Healing (50 skill) - BiS Spell Power (3 / 6) The recipe has a reputation requirement but is easily farmable by runningThe Botanica(~2200 rep/run)or The Mechanar (~1600 rep/run)
* Weapon - Major Spellpower(50 skill) - BiS Spell Power (8 / 15) The recipe is an easily farmable zone drop
* Shield - Major Stamina(25 skill) - BiS Stamina (5 / 6)
5.3.5. Level Pandaria Enchanting (guide)
- No vendor available for materials at all. Pandaria rares can be killed and looted repeatedly with a high chance of rare-quality / epic-quality drop. Farm and DE those. Also, Big Bag of Wonders is a good passive farm from Yul Wildpaw (~1 hour respawn time), you will only need it to drop 3-4 times to get to 50 skill. Sha Shatter / Ethernal Shatter are available at 75 skill, to get lower-level mats.
* Chest - Superior Stamina(25 skill) - BiS Stamina (2 / 5)
* Chest - Mighty Versatility(1 skill) - BiS Versatility (3 / 7)
* Gloves - Super Strength(50 skill) - BiS Strength (3 / 7)
* Gloves - Superior Mastery(50 skill) - BiS Mastery (3 / 7)
* Gloves - Greater Haste(1 skill) - BiS Haste (3 / 7) * Boots - Blurred Speed (25 skill) - BiS Agi + Speed (1 / 3 + 10 %) Does not stack with most Abilities / Talents / Enchants * Boots - Pandaren's Step (50 skill) - BiS Mastery + Speed (1 / 3 + 10 %) Does not stack with most Abilities / Talents / Enchants
* Boots - Greater Haste(1 skill) - BiS Haste (2 / 3)
* Bracers - Mastery(1 skill) - BiS Mastery (2 / 4)
* Weapon - Elemental Force(1 skill) - BiS Damage Proc (~45 / ~45 proc)
* Weapon - Jade Spirit(75 skill) - BiS Intellect Proc (11 / 22 proc) The recipe has a reputation requirement
* Off Hand / Shield - Major Intellect(50 skill) - BiS Intellect (3 / 7)
* Ring - Accord of Versatility / Mastery / Critical / Haste(150 skill) - BiS Secondary Stat (4 / 4) Not available to Horde F2Ps
* Ring - Pact of Versatility / Mastery / Critical / Haste(75 skill) - BiS Secondary Stat Horde (2 / 3)
* Weapon - Gale-Force Striking(40 skill) - BiS Attack Speed (15%)
* Weapon - Coastal Surge(40 skill) - BiS Heal Proc (5x30 / 5x90)
* Weapon - Naga Hide - (155 skill) - BiS Absorb Proc (7+~270 / 15+~450) Not available to Horde F2Ps
* Mount Equipment - Light-Step Hoofplates(155 skill) - The only way to increase mount speed as a level 20 character Not available to Horde F2Ps
For whatever reason the regular horde BFA Enchanting trainer (Enchantress Quinni) does not teach any of the high-level Weapon or Ring enchants. They are available from the Alliance counterpart(Emily Fairweather), but our fellow horde friends are stuck withPact of Versatility / Mastery / Critical / Haste.
5.3.8. Level Legion Enchanting (guide)
- The main issue here would be the Chaos Crystals that are required for the neck enchants - one of the more influential enchants in the bracket. A great guide by @Jaska on the subject, but prepare to spend a couple of days on that. *The only shortcut will be to buy multiple Broken Isles Enchantment Delivery from Aridormi, but this method only works once every ~4 months (Legion Timewalking). The current drop rate is between 20-30 %, so 85 to 125 Timewraped Badges per Chaos Crystals (and you need 12 or 15 crystals (1000 - 1800 badges) per enchant, depending on if Rank 2 recipe is available to F2Ps).
5.3.9. Shadowlands Enchants require a lvl 50 character, soignore this expansion.
5.3.10. Dragonflight Enchants require a lvl 60 character, so ignore this expansion.
did something change with the garrison enchanter's study with the df expansion? It states 'runed enchanting rod' needed.
I do not have the enchanting profession, but used to be able to do enchants with this building.

You need to be lvl 20 to farm Cata mats like dust and essences (which is what is needed to level Cata enchanting).
While you can purchase Cata items to disenchant, they only give you shards and crystals.
Pairing tailoring with Cata enchanting will speed up the grind to get dust/essences.
Best place to farm Cata green items that I found was in High Bank, Twilight Highlands (the zone's starting area).
Having Shadowgrasp totem and/or Ooze trinket will make the grind easier.

I just tested this. I dropped my Draenor enchanting and it did in fact require me to have a Runed Enchanting Rod.
I built the Engineering Works and had the engineer make me a Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife (need 5 Gearspring Parts which you get for doing the quest or can buy from the garrison vendor for 5 Primal Spirits each).
With the enchanting rod, I now get the msg that 'You have not learned the spell'.
So, at some point having the enchanter study make your enchants got broken. Still works fine if you have Enchanting profession.
I definitely advise making a Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife on each character anyway. Super useful item, especially if you do profession hopping.
