Elemental Shaman: Help me decide...

For Tier 8, I have 5 points and there are 7 talent point spots. What to do? I'm keeping Elemental Oath - Spell - World of Warcraft but don't know who deserves the other 3 points more.

Booming Echoes - Spell - World of Warcraft vs Lightning Overload - Spell - World of Warcraft

I'm currently spec'd 2/2 BE and 1/3 LO. Because this bracket is so bursty, I like being able to kite, snare, and the damage boost to Frost shock is amazing. I don't want to be interrupted when casting LB or CL by damn near everyone nor do I like standing still to cast. So my choice basically is, 2 secs off the 6 secs cooldown of Frost Shock and my 35 yd flame shock and boost their direct dmg or do I want a 22% increase chance of 50% of my previous LB dmg.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft is what i roll with.

ever since LO was 1st nerfed i havent liked it that much, especially when its next to elemental oath and booming echos. honestly with all the melee in my grill i find i can only get off a CL and 1-2 LBs before i cant cast and just kite them around with a frost shock that crits well over 1k.

yea no probs. i just dont drop fire nova's...idk, not very appealing to my style.

reverb is totally worth it imo, i have a 3sec CD on frost and flame shock which is quite insane...lets me kite off the wall. fire shock has decent damage upfront and good DoT for rogues, etc. and frost has massive burst along with the slow.

yea it can be awesome, but with 3 sec frosts i can still kite like a monster. earth bind, and kite away. stone claw if/when needed. works great for me, might mess with nova a bit but idk if i could give up reverb now

Consider 2/2 booming echos because this is clearly amazing and I could not go without, and now that LO got buffed, 1 point in there is nice for 11 percent random burst and funny when it procs. However, I would consider 2/2 booming echos, 1/2 elemental eoath, and 2/3 lightning overload. 22 percent is quite a bit.

I personally plan to respec http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?sha...0000000000000&glyph=000000000000&version=9901

id rather do 2/2 BE, 2/2 EO (5% crit and 10% damage when clearcasting is awesome) and 1/2 LO if i had too....but id rather not, 11% chance to do 1/2 damage that cant crit is meh.

=[ srry u spent 30g to figure that out man. i mean it has potential for lulz...but meh.

1/2 damage LB/CL fails to impress me (and it cant crit, or at least it used to not be able to..not sure if they removed that stipulation)

i usually do LB--> CL--> frost shock. if any one of those crits my enemy will be dead...if they're still alive i'll kite them around with earthbind and frostshock intermittently casting CLs b/c of the short cast time and quick CD.

LOL, it's all good, I likes the shock but while I can live w/ 22% more chance to hit for 1/2 dmg (MEH), I can't live w/ the slow 2.5 sec casts...

I took a different, albeit cheaper, path than what I'm seeing here. I saw the elemental shaman as an arcane mage. When spec'ed for it, I my frost shock is on a 3 second cooldown and does around 750/1150 damage. It allows you to stay very mobile...and it's wonderful against classes that have crippling spell-school lockdowns. Don't get me wrong. I don't simply spam frostshock...but I bet I do more than your average ele shaman. It's nice to have that option when needed.

exactly nosoup, thats the approach i took although i never thought of likening myself to an arcane mage =P. 3sec frost and flameshocks are so ftw when they hit hard and prevent you from being spell locked (unless mage has imp CS, or SP's silence). allows you to kite like a god with FS and earthbind, and it packs a helluva punch to boot. LB has 2.1 sec cast which is ok for me, i just do CL, LB if i can or FS, and then CL again.

4-5 frost shocks to kill most twinks, that's 12 to 15 seconds if most crit. I've died in less time to the better twink rogues/warriors/paladins. A prot warrior's concussion blow will have u stunned for 6 secs not to mention charge/intercept/revenge proc. Gag order ruins heals and 2.5 sec LB/CL's. Shield slam knocks off ur shield if u were smart enough to put it up.

In the end it's a style thing. I liked it but I was a 1 trick pony. Spamming 1 button also leads to folks questioning skill.

I completely agree with that part, that was one thing that really got me about arcane mages in pvp when they added arcane barrage in. All you saw was mages spamming arcane barrage and fireblast every so often. It was a completely skill-less tactic and it crit for like 4k+ at 70 with the right gear, so it was total bullshit. Likening an elemental shaman to an arcane mage with cd reductions on frost shock saddens me, spamming it would sadden me even more...

no reason to spam one button. you still have CL and LB which are very strong spells, just harder to fit in with all the spell locks around, but definitely still viable. and with earthbind roots and stoneclaw shield it gives good surv. and kiting for melee

pretty much. but ele shaman are much more than 1 trick ponies. sure some people can sit there and spam FB until they run oom, so be it...but you shouldnt generalize the spec as a whole. they have a bunch of tricks now and are quite effective provided they aren't focus fired right away.

stay with others, try to hide in the proverbial or literal bushes as much as possible, use LB and CL along with other shocks. i cant tell you how many times ive faced noob shaman of every spec who would rather flame/earth shock me instead of earth and just let me cast uninterrupted. for shame!

shaman can be played well enough by noobs, but they are a hard class to truly master and play effectively on.

I think u miss what I'm saying, I don't deny a good player can get more out of the spec than FROST SHAWK!!! What I'm saying is that mediocre player can spam frost shock and be almost as effective. Why spend 2.5 secs casting when u can just kite for 3 secs and frostshock again? Drop a earth bind totem and or stoneclaw and u really don't have to do much. I doubt someone spec'd for 3 sec shocks will invest in range on CB/CL. So it's shocks and totems.

Perception is what we're talking about and people will just view it as tab dotting locks or red petting huntards or jugganaut charging warriors. No skill and button mashing.

meh people always belittle classes other than their own and call others ez more or op. nothing new! oh and i have 3 sec shocks and i still still use LB and CL all the time, especially LB if im low on mana.
