Dual-Wielding Survival Hunter?

Yes, I haven't slept in awhile. No, that isn't related to this. Well, maybe a bit.

I did some extremely basic testing and found dual wielding might actually perform slightly better than using a 2h weapon. All this testing was done against a level 45 belf priest (alternate account, is there dummies anywhere??) Anyways, let's discuss.

So for this test I had a few rules I set up. No pet (initially) and I would spam my resource dump as much as I could (Raptor Strike for 2h, Serpent Sting for DW). My main reason for testing this was because Elemental Force has 10 RPPM so we can expect to see on average 10 procs per minute per weapon. So we lose the ability to use Raptor Strike to dump our focus, but instead gain twice the amount of Elemental Force procs. The good thing about this is that since Serpent Sting applies a DoT that also procs Elemental Force so even if we're kiting and just spamming SS we should on average get more procs = more dead rogues.

I should mention the weapons. For my 2h I'm using a Recruit's Staff of the Quickblade (8 agil, 6 crit, 5 versa) and for my 1h'ers I was using simple heirlooms (venerable dal'rends) since I didn't have anything else (4 agil, 6 crit, 3 haste each). So what does this all mean? On average, with just the earlier rules I had put (very basic, just AA and focus dump, no pet) it took me on average 25 seconds to kill my level 45 priest (3k health) with DW, and 30 seconds on average to kill her with a 2h. I haven't done any more testing past this (but I plan to soon-ish). Purely speculation, but I'm guessing once you add in Kill Command generating a bit of focus that the 2h might be a bit more close. However, another thing I didn't add in was Wildfire Bomb, which again has a chance to proc Elemental Force.

If you somehow made it this far, nice. Really I just have a few questions:

1) Am I a total idiot and just overlooked something blatantly obvious? If DW was better people would have figured that out a long time ago, no?
2) If DW can be competitve, what swords should we be going? Speed doesn't matter since we should get an average of 20 PPM anyways.
3) It would probably feel super clunky, but right now the only downside to DW is you don't get to use Raptor Strike. What if we dumped our focus with Raptor Strike using a 2h then switched over to DW?
4) EF RPPM is influenced by Haste. Obviously we still want to focus on Versatility, but if we lean hard into Haste how much of an effect would that cause?

Don't you trigger gcd if you swap weapons these days? I used to hotswap a lot back in TBC on my main shaman in PvP between 2h and dw, but back then it didn't trigger any cooldowns.

I'm not sure of the numbers. However, various people have commented on not seeing any difference in proc rate with 1 Elemental Fore as compared to 2. You should try a different weapon proc (maybe one of the lesser damage ones that is close to Elemental Force) to see if you have any increase in proc rates.

ive been doing this since prepatch launch on my 19. not hard to figure out

you obviously stack haste agi and versa

you'd want 2x darkwater talwar for 20+ and bronze shortsword/shadowfang for 19

you make weapon swap macros

gg top damage.
