What are the benefits over skype or teamspeak, or even ventrilo?
 
ventrilo/teamspeak are both terrible lol. dolby is pretty much the same thing as skype but just better in every category
 
I thought the whole thing with mumble was that it's push to talk. Yeah, we did away with that with the departure of ventrilo and all other old technology.
 
Sorry dude, I don't want to listen to you mouthbreathing nerds eat your cheez-its while I'm playing my game. Skype is fucking horrible.

Teamspeak has the best voice detection activation of Mumble/Vent/TS that I've seen.

Maybe I'm just some kind of old man around these parts, but I don't need to hear Sam whacking it while he caps the flag.

And the surround sound gimmick seems really strange. Like Steve* is behind me, to the left!

That can only work with a game that has integration for such a feature... Does WoW support it correctly? It seems like it wouldn't work for shit without integration.

I'm actually not shitting on it, but after using the newest TS client, I'm sold that it is at least better than mumble, ventrilo, and skype. If this dolby program has some new feature or significantly increased sound quality, then cool.

Or maybe its free?

Dolby does have state-of-the-art sound quality and it doesn't lag me like Skype does.
 
Dolby is ok. It's not better than Skype. Though Skype is a memory hog, requiring 4x the ram that Dolby does.

Dolby lets you set up a permanent chat room for free that people can join. You can divide that room into 4 sub rooms. It can make it easy to get a bracket to join in and divide up easily. The problem is you can easily "spy" on the other team by moving your cursor to the other side of the room.
