US Does Server Matter? (AP vs BH)

Hello all,

I'm an old timer coming out of retirement and was wondering if server choice still matters? I play horde and am wanting to find the right home for my new disc priest.

Thanks!

He said horde, ya goof. :)

There are a good amount on most servers. I don't have any horde, F2P, though. But I know Blackwing Lair has a good amount.

LOL

Well, if you are Free-2-Play, some things to consider:

Dalaran is the top server on the list and is usually the first suggested server for people who roll new accounts, so by nature, feels like it would have the biggest new player population, thus I see a lot of lvl 20 gatherings outside of Orgrimmar gates on the Dalaran server.

I don't see much activity on the Horde side on Aerie Peak, that seems to be more Alliance strong as far as F2P community.

Bleeding Hollow has a lot of 19s hanging out fron of Orgrimmar. (XP locked paid accounts)

Those are the 3 main servers I usually frequent, due to their heavy twink activity.

Yeah, AP has been the go to for Alliance as long as I can recall. I always have a few people on my friends list on to play with. Sometimes 10+ at peak hours.

Honestly server doesnt matter unless you are wanting to get into specific guild. With the way queing works now, it got rid of the need to be on a specific server.

If you are F2P some minor things do matter if you have friends on same servers. For instance adding other F2P toons to your friend list so you can chat (bypassing F2P whisper restrictions) is one plus. Phasing is generally less problematic if you and friends are on the same server.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I was just looking for the server with the most players in the 20-29 bracket for faster queue times and likelihood of premades. I hadn't considered Dalaran, when I played it was always either AP or BH. Do all three of these servers join the same queue for BGs?

I hadn't thought about the old F2P addon to bypass some of the chat restrictions. I used to really enjoy the almost guild like feel to it. Does anyone know if it is still working? Guess if it was that could be one way to test the waters?

Oh, I wasn't referring to the addon, just the action of friending each other so you can simply whisper the Bliz-given way.

But I think it still works.

Any thoughts as to faction choice? I have always played horde. Seems like BG win rates are fairly even in my experience, with ally having a slight edge in WSG and horde in EoTS. I play disc priest so the eyepatch is not a consideration for me. I just want to roll somewhere where I don't feel like I'm completely alone.

Honestly, it's been pretty even as of late it seems.

At least in the last 2 weeks since I've returned.

I need to re-download the addon, but I have seen a lot of my old friends on my list for my main.

I've been mostly doing achievement farming lately, but when I PVP I'm usually doing arena. I'd love to find a few people to do skirms with.

So you think Dalaran would be the way to go? Would love to know if the F2P qdddon is working and what server/faction has the most people using it!

I'll let you know in a few if it is.

If you want to play alliance anytime, make a toon on Aerie Peak. I'm on almost every night and do arena, bgs, achieve farming, dungeon grinding.

Battletag is in sig, same with my main.

Thanks! I mostly play in the AM in PST. Do you ever play then?

Depends. Am as in late night or early morning?

I play usually 10 PM - 4 AM EST.

I mentioned in the other thread that F2P Addon is pretty quiet on Dal, but my personal feeling is there are actually more f2p on Dalaran than AP. I can often find a few hanging around Goldshire though I personally rather do exploration than duels. I think Dalaran is skewed towards Alliance with the total pop 2:1, and there are fewer people outside of org. Perhaps because some of them of genuine new players (i am myself, started in Jan and just picked the server on top of the list), or younglings that don't know about this addon. But its nice to go there and chat a bit, feeling a sense of community.
