Do you honestly have fun as a F2P in arenas?

One of the main reasons I haven't done Arena as a F2P is because you're limited to playing against friends/people you know.... also there's no real "reward".. other than bragging rights?

I used to Arena a lot when I played 70, but I just can't find the appeal here if I'm vsing friends all the time.

A wild Swagpurse appears out of the mist.

Our dear leader has made an appearance!

can you make it so i can vote twice?

Only one vote per "user" for this poll.

There is another thread where you can vote "yes" and "other" available under the title: [post=447884]"How do you spend your time as a F2P twink?"[/post]

[...] I don't like your poll dead.

exactly.

We need a meta-poll now...

Poll: What is your favorite F2P poll?

1. "Do you honestly have fun as F2P in 20-24 Battlegrounds?"
2. "Do you honestly have fun as F2P in Arenas?"
3. "How do you spend your time as a F2P Twink?"
4. "What is your favorite F2P poll?"
Poll-ception?

If i had the option to arena i would but unfortunately i'm on a dead server so my options are pretty limited :(

When i finally gear a character on ap i'm going to try and get some games in because i did enjoy arena in wotlk and early cata despite terrible balance issues but nonetheless they were enjoyable.

The ultimate goal was to better a lot of players in regards to managing CC, CD's, positioning, and overall awareness of what's going on in PvP.

I've seen a lot of the regular arena players get progressively better over the months. I would put money on those players if it came down to BGs, because a better arena player is a better BGer as well.

So arena junkies (cwutididthar, clever right?)...

How long are the queues when you get a team? Or will I need to arrange for another team to face us?
Are all teams super organized?
Can I PuG a team and go?
Do you need to be BiS or are lots of people queueing not BiS?

After getting 6 games in a row with 14+ hunters between both sides (WSG) I'm willing to try level 20 arena out.

I've tried arena at max level and found it too frustrating, so I'll probably never try on a f2p (granted this was back when I was really not good at bgs). I prefer large group activities even though I am highly competitive. I don't like dueling, so that's a large part of it. I don't really enjoy killing things and I almost never go after someone unless they hit me first or annoyed me in the past.

Impressed with the number of choices in this poll btw.

Shouldn't there be a 'Yes: I find arenas to be challenging, but whenever I win, I feel a deep sense of satisfaction. I play them not to crush people, but to improve my own skills and have fun'

I have fun as long as i can PEW PEW with my dots!
however once people start forming teams with shamans that means its time for me to logoff :)

I like that your poll is more balanced, and the positive tone this has. :) I also like that you managed to make the point that the lack of an accurate option can be quite frustrating. <3

I do agree that since you've made the point, now there should be another, neutral option for Yes. ^^

Golden makes a very good point in that Arena can be used as a training ground for helping people improve their skill. I had never thought about it that way before.

I'm all for F2P Arenas if it means newer/less hardcore players can become more familiar with their class, learn matchups, how to prioritize their cooldowns/etc - in a more competetive environment rather than in a messy BG.

I enjoy arenas i guess, but I dont like not being able to seriously play something i want to, like balance druid because no abilities arent there

So do you feel bad Deadvulcano? I'll join the ranks of I love arena because it's one of the few ways in which you can become far better as a player faster. In fact, every time I do arena I feel like I get better and I have seen players get better through arena (Veinte, Shft and so on). At the end of the day this thread accomplished exactly the opposite of what you wanted it to. Every post but one ended with " I like arena" and the only thing that changed is that you made yourself look like an arrogant prick that took Cotus' bait hook, line and sinker. I PvE'd for most of my WoW "career" because nobody wanted to play with me because I was a "PvE" hero but eventually after a lot of effort I managed to get into arenas with better players and it definitely made a huge difference. Arena places a magnifying glass on your ability to play this game in a way that nothing save dueling can do (and dueling has it's obvious problems). If you like BG'ing to the exclusion of arena it means you enjoy not having to be on your toes all the time. There's a reason the vast majority of arena players are though to be some of the better players in this bracket and the vast majority of players that only BG are not.

TLDR: I won't respect your abilities as a player if you don't ever even try arena because it shows me one of three things 1) you're not willing to try new things, 2) you don't want to get better or 3) you don't have a thick skin.

To follow up on that judg-y post. Who thinks the vast majority of arena players are the better players in this bracket? And who thinks people who play BGs exclusively are not? You? Your group of friends? Glad we cleared that up.

Aside from a basic understanding of LoS and CC, I cannot fathom how level 20 arena makes you super skilled. Never had to pillar hump in your WoW career? Really? Hum... Maybe if you have never done any sort of coordinated activity in the past, this could be a learning experience. But seriously, you have like 4 abilities. There is no defensive CDs, there are hardly any interrupts and you are lacking major abilities (signature abilities). Please don't think because you play level 20 PeeVeePee in arena or BG, that you are an amazing player. This is like, preschool PvP. It's a way to unwind, for free. Nothing more.

I have yet to encounter more *really good* players than I can count on one hand in this bracket.

First, you have no idea why I made this thread.

In short: to improve the community, but specifically show how to promote the best place the community really has left: Arenas

Everybody:

This thread is nearly as terrible an example as the thread that cotus made. (and intentionally so)

However, it should be clear that arenas are loved and hated for whatever reasons ppl have. No one should be making threads like this that put words into peoples mouths.

Do you really want to promote arenas? Make comments like these:

Please contact me via PM if you still don't understand.

Finally, I created [post=447884]another thread[/post] at the same time to show what we should all already know. Threads that stress a particular view point are popular. People are more motivated to post/view when they see something they perceive as wrong.

I don't like either of these "Do you honestly have fun..." threads anywhere on the front page. I think I have something to fix it though.

For now if you are serious about promoting arenas please just talk about what is good about it and why YOU enjoy it. Lose the "elitist" attitude and you'll get more people interested. It would be great to see more ppl in arena, but its easier to attract with the proper attitude.

best post in the whole forum. +10

just leave him alone, there are no rules against trolling on this forum, or calling out stupid people, or else like 50% of us would be banned already.

people are just really, really stupid and apparently thought that i was trying to promote arena by making the other thread, when in reality its purpose was just to point out that nobody is willing to put in any effort to make pvp in this bracket fun. the only person i've seen on this forum who has legit made an effort is goldendays, with his honor farming guide, and i think a grand total of like 3(?) people have used it to my knowledge.

i'm not naive enough myself to put in the effort to organize pvp on AP, because i know from experience that WoW players (especially twinkers) are almost all flakes who, like i pointed out, don't really give a crap about anything other than logging in, beating up on borderline retarded people in BGs, and feeling good about themselves. how many AP vs AP battleground premades have we had again? 2? after literally a year of F2P twinking on AP? i mean seriously, this shit is flat out embarrassing.

you reap what you sow

actually, you know what, i just got an idea for how we could organize arenas independently from in-game or this forum in a really low-maintenance, non-committal way. i don't think this will really work for anything else, but hey, if people wanted to do small group world pvp, maybe that would work too. i'll make a separate thread.
