Devout Aurastone Hammer vs Crescent of Forlorn Spirits

Hey guys... I'm a level 29 Holy Pally, and there's been a bit of arguing in my guild about this... Obviously the Crescent is BC enchantable, (40 spellpower) but the Aurastone Hammer can be enchanted with Healing Power (30 spellpower) and has stam/int and mp5 as well as 4 spellpower... the Crescent also has 6 critical strike rating... which is around 1.7% crit. The int on the Aurastone Hammer is equivalent to around .5% crit, so you sacrifice 6 spellpower and roughly 1.2% crit for I think 9 int and 8 stam, as well as 1mp5. What do you guys think?

You can't use oils on boa

Well, I use oils (every now and then lols...) but still - I have been looking over this, Im not sure its worth it for my pally because I have +43 spell power, so losing 6 SP just bacame losing 9 SP, but it would be something to look into...if no other reason than being able to go with another enchant (the one that restores mana or w/e to party members...?)

But the fact that it cannot use oils doesn't seem to be that big of a deal (not to me) seeings how they are removed upon entry into arenas anways...

Yeah, Oils are fairly pricey aswell - but now that I think about it, would the BOA mace +30 spell power be good, if it allowed Spellsurge on your TBC weapon? (3% chance on spellcast to restore 100 mana to all party memebers over 10 seconds) Or...even mongoose for fighting off pesky rowgs? :O

Yeah... I do not use Oils in any situation other than a premade vs premade... and after using the BoA for a day, I can say that I like the stats (and the looks ;) much better than the crescent. Lose a tiny bit of spellpower and crit for mp5, and more health + mana. Plus it frees up my Crescent for +30 intellect for arenas and such.

Main is an enchanter.. I blow through oil because it's free. Forlorn is fast so I drop a wis judge on a target and enjoy some regain. I passed the boa down to my 19 pally with 22 intel and use it for arena's only. Since oils, sharpening, & weight stones persist through death, I don't know why anybody wouldn't be using them.

I premade quite a bit in battlegrounds, often against other twinks, so I'm very rarely anywhere near the front lines, except to throw a HoF or a HoJ at an opportune moment. As for regen... I rarely go oom anyway, and going and attacking a twink rogue critting me for 500 backstabs for regen I don't need has never really crossed my mind. I use the crescent with 30 intellect for arenas, and switch to the BoA later in the fight, and pretty much everywhere else I use the BoA for the added stam/int and regen.

Because they are a rogue or a shaman.

Rogues can't equip an axe.

I think he might mean that Rogues and Shamans both have respective weapon buffs that aren't enchants; Poisons, and Shamans tongue things... Flametongue, Windfury, whatever they are.

Yeah but at this point what are we really focusing on here. Paladin mainhand right?

Indeed. Like I said, I use Crescent with 30 intellect in Arenas and the BoA mace pretty much everywhere else. At this point people are essentially posting their opinions on which is better to use in what situation. It has been pointed out that the BoA cannot be applied with Oils or Stones.
