That goes for both Horde and Alliance, I've been apart of both. I find that doing a bg as 80 is almost pointless with the stat scaling. Just arena and PVE. I mean sure, you can still beat bad 84s, however, if their 84s out number yours, you still pretty much lose cause the rest of your team is getting owned

sinzisick, that's obviously a xp on bg so don't boast lol, but nice kbs!

Now with 5.3, geared 80s are very strong against 84s. I see 80s topping damage done, and from 5.2 of around 100k hp buffed at 80, are now at around 170k hp.
All the scrub horde premade 84s are now gonna start fading as they see 80s start dominating them.

Honestly 4.3 was the best for 80-84s. It feels like patches are slowly making 80 more unstable, bit by bit.

I found this picture browsing through the blizzard forums under battleground. It may be hard to see but this priest is level 82 (based on the number in chat) with over 211k hp.

As I said, if it can be done, people will do it.
