Defending towns against 85s

Guys, it can be done... you just have to change your tactics.

This is my latest victim:
Medidor @ Bloodhoof - Game Guide - World of Warcraft

Strategy:
Giant Growth pot + Dancing Bear Mount + stand directly on top of 85 = 85 can't see

He then gets frustrated and leaves, or he dies because he can't see anything around him. This poor sap suffered the latter fate.

It's actually kind of fun.

I have /WorldDefense on and hearth back to Bloodhoof Village or Thunder Bluff if they get attacked.

WorldDefense was pretty much how I got started pvp'ing back in BC.

so for example when the allies decide to kill the war chief a lot of 20s Taurnes can just use giant pots and get in their way?

Yes, just don't right-click on anyone!

@OP, i guess you don't use keybinds so much. i select opponent with a key, not by rightclicking.

Actually, I keybind everything.

However, you right-click and drag to turn and you are standing on top of a flagged 85 when you are doing this, so you need to be careful when moving around

you're talking to someone who just solo killed 10 zillion mobs to get exalted with Steemwheedle (not to mention a handful of rare pets). Most would guess he doesn't need any insight into effective play-style.

It's soooo much easier at 20, lol.

I greatly prefer a minimalist UI and even try to play without a mini-map as much as possible, so I use overloaded macros a LOT.

i don't get it, you just put yourself in front of the boss so the opponent can't select him?

No, no. That's what someone else suggested.

When an 85 comes to attack your town, you place yourself right on top of HIM, simultaneously annoying him and obstructing him.

In towns with low-level guards, the idea is to annoy him enough to get him to leave. This has worked on the past for me. You know that you are getting to them when they start emoting at you.

With high-level guards around, obstructing their ability to see can quickly result in a death. This works even better and is what I precipitated in Thunder Bluff last night. The bigger your mount, the better this works.

However, if a raid comes to kill a faction chief.,obstructing their view would at least irritate them, especially if they had a mind to take screenshots of their glorious triumph.
