I'm going to break this into a few main sections to basicly make this easier for you to read and easier for me to write the sections will be as followed:

Chardevs

Gear

Macros

UI Set Up (+Addons)

Talents + Glyphs

Class mechanics

Viable arena comp

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chardevs :

PvE http://chardev.org/?profile=276877

PvPhttp://chardev.org/?profile=273503

If Human : http://chardev.org/?profile=273503 (But Replace Medallion of the alliance/horde with http://www.wowhead.com/item=40767/sonic-booster

Gear:

Your main stats in order of importance:

Hit Cap > Around 60 spell pen > Strength > Resi > Possibly Some Haste but Not neccesary.

Hit Cap:

Its Very important being hit capped as a frost dk to ensure all your Obliterate/Frost Strike Procs dont miss , These are of Essence to the road of Succesfully Play a Death Knight Duel wield Death Knight.

Spell Pen:

Spell Pen well Harsh , Really you need to be somewhat Hit capped (check Video (1)...) as you can see i resist My most important spell to ensure the kill "hungering cold" resist and Completetly ruins the only cc you have. Besides "HC" you also Have Howling Blast Based on Ranged non-physical Damage , Its of Great importance you have spell pen cap so you have all the damage you can pull off When for instance , Nova'ed ... Get a HB proc from the talent ( will be explained) or When facing rogues.

Strength/Resilience:

Right , Strength is Your "Main" Stat to gem As in your gear , I advice if you want to achieve Somewhere high End in arena,as a player you should not Stack full strength ... Resilience/strength is The best to mix up in Gems , for instance im rolling ~400 resilience in my Normal Pvp set And playing double Dps 650 resilience ... Stack to around 380-400 resilience in your pvp-friendly set and stack strength Gems/enchants anything possible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Macros,1.The Main ones i Use :

#showtooltip Death Grip

/cast [target=focus] Death Grip (Perfect way to Interrupt an Casting heal you and your partner are unable to interrupt or very usefull to combinate with Hungering cold -> Hit priest he casts with innerfocus you grip when his first heal is almost Done and IMMEDIALLY follow it up with a hungering cold to stop the second heal , a good priest will death but its really of no use for them to do it)

#showtooltip Lichborne

/cast !Lichborne;

/cast [target=player] Death Coil (This Macro is Very Important!!)

#showtooltip Strangulate

/cast [target=focus] Strangulate ( Very Very important , most of the times i open up with a focus strang on healer while pressuring their dps / killing the dps!)

#showtooltip Mind Freeze

/cast [mod:shift, @focus] Mind Freeze; Mind Freeze ( Sick Macro no priest will fake unless your playing 2.4-2.5+ mmr .

2. Optional Macros to use :

#showtooltip Death Grip

/castsequence [target=focus] reset=60 Death Grip, Chains of Ice, Hungering Cold (basically grips and hungers better version of the one i use but not neccesary)

#showtooltip Chains of Ice

/cast [mod:shift, @focus] Chains of Ice; Chains of Ice ( Nice to stop an incoming Fear for instance on your hard casting Partner)

#showtooltip Lichborne

/cancelaura Lichborne

/cast Lichborne ( Ideally usefull vs Priests but i just cant be bothered with making a seperate macro i do it oldstyle [clickin them Aura myself] )

Thats Basically it for Macros

UI Set up (+Addons)

Ok a list of addons that I think you should get if you want to play arena properly:

Gladius

OmniCC

Lose Control

Interupt Bar - Allows you to call out interupts that have been used for your team.

not going to Make much hussle as i want you to make your ui to your personal preferences and not to mine ... Use Default with a mix of above listed addons will keep you From Doin any dumb / Buggs .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talents + Glyphs

Frost

First Row:

1.Runic Power Mastery [1/3] Increases Maximum runic power by 10%/This is Optional an "Damn 1 talent Left where shall i put this" Talent,

2.Icy Reach [2/2] Increases the range of Icy Touch,Chains of ice and Howling blast by 10yards / This is needed you will find this Very helpful when facing a mage for instance he blinks and your still in range to chains of ice , definently take this ! .

3.Nerves of Cold Steel [3/3] 3% crit chance with 2 weapons and 25% more damage added to your Offhand , Take this ! .

Second Row:

1.Annihilation [3/3] Increases Your damage dealt by obliterate by 45%/ This is Huge ! Go for it Not much to Explain About.

2.Lichborne [1/1] Immune to Charm,Fear,Sleep Effects + you Become an Undead " Able to get Shackled and Death coil yourself for Huge ammounts of Health" / This Is an absolute must.

3.Endless Winter[2/2] Makes your Mind Freeze cost no runic power / This is a Great talent Seeing you dont waiste your precious runic power to interrupt Big Bursts of damage/healing done.

Third Row:

1.Merciless Combat [0/2] Your Icy Touch, Howling Blast, Obliterate and Frost Strike do an additional 12% damage when striking targets with less than 35% health. / This is Optional i personally dont Take this becouse its not worth it seeing a target Wont or rarely stays alive on 20-% hp. This is Debatable ... choose for yourself i tell you not to!

2.Chill Of the Grave [2/2] Your Chains of Ice, Howling Blast, Icy Touch and Obliterate generate 10 additional Runic Power./This is Crucial you want to go for as much as Runic power regeneration as possible seeing you dont gain much/very few from being Duel wield ...

3.Killing Machine [3/3] Your autoattacks have a chance to make your next Obliterate or Frost Strike a guaranteed critical strike./Yeah this is probably The most important Talent Damage wise seeing you want to pull of as much as damage as possible before your opponent forces your precious Selfhealing.

Fourth Row:

1.Rime [3/3] Your Obliterate has a 45% chance to cause your next Howling Blast or Icy Touch to consume no runes. This is Very Very Handy Vs Ranged opponents such as : Locks, hunters, mages ... (now this is a Talent where you could pick up merciless combat over but for me this is key to my Rotation...!)

2.Pillar of Frost [1/1] Calls upon the power of Frost to increase the Death Knight's Strength by 20%. Icy crystals hang heavy upon the Death Knight's body, providing immunity against external movement such as knockbacks. Lasts 20 sec./ This is Very Handy Versus Ele shamans/boomkins but also key to your damage Rotation , 20% strength is extroardinary alot of Strength for being only a 2minute cooldown.

3.Improved Icy Talons [1/1] Increases the melee and ranged attack speed of all party and raid members within 100 yards by 10%, and your own attack speed by an additional 5%. Not much more to say except that this is needed.

Also Gives you and your TeamPartners a buff "Increases melee and ranged attack speed by 10%."

4.Brittle Bones [2/2] Your Strength is increased by 4% and your Frost Fever chills the bones of its victims, increasing their physical damage taken by 4%.

Fifth Row:

1.Chillblains [2/2] Victims of your Frost Fever disease are Chilled, reducing movement speed by 25% for 10 sec, and your Chains of Ice immobilizes targets for 1 sec./Roots your target for 3 seconds + you get a slow on him when spamming howling blast this is Crucial to hold the balance of Snares+dmg together.

2.Hungering Cold [1/1] Purges the earth around the Death Knight of all heat. Enemies within 10 yards are afflicted with Frost Fever and trapped in ice, preventing them from performing any action for 10 sec. Enemies are considered Frozen, but any damage other than diseases will break the ice./ you get to learn how to work and play around with this spell after alot of practice , For instance Faking HC when you know they have Some sort of Skilllevel...

Sixth Row:

1.Threat of Thassarian [3/3] When dual-wielding, your Death Strikes, Obliterates, Plague Strikes, Rune Strikes, Blood Strikes and Frost Strikes have a 100% chance to also deal damage with your off-hand weapon.

Seventh Row:

1.Howling Blast [1/1] Blast the target with a frigid wind, dealing ((1257 + 1387 / 2) + AP * 0.48)) Frost damage to that foe, and ((0.5 * (((1257 + 1387 / 2) + (AP * 0.48)))) Frost damage to all other enemies within 0 yards.) / As Shown Scales with AP "Your Value of Strength -> AP" This is your main Abillety Versus rogues to avoid dodgex100 and does insane ammount of Damage on ranged targets .

Glyphs To Have are :

1.Glyph of Obliterate

Prime Glyph

Classes: Death Knight

Requires Level 61

Item Level 61

Use: Permanently teaches you this glyph.

Increases the damage of your Obliterate ability by 20%.

2.Glyph of Howling Blast

Prime Glyph

Classes: Death Knight

Requires Level 69

Item Level 69

Use: Permanently teaches you this glyph.

Your Howling Blast ability now infects your targets with Frost Fever.

3.Glyph of Hungering Cold

Major Glyph

Classes: Death Knight

Requires Level 55

Item Level 55

Use: Permanently teaches you this glyph.

Your Hungering Cold ability no longer costs runic power.

4.Glyph of Anti-Magic Shell

Major Glyph

Classes: Death Knight

Requires Level 68

Item Level 68

Use: Permanently teaches you this glyph.

Increases the duration of your Anti-Magic Shell by 2 sec.

OPTIONAL : Glyph of Strangulate

Major Glyph

Classes: Death Knight

Requires Level 59

Item Level 59

Use: Permanently teaches you this glyph.

Increases the Silence duration of your Strangulate ability by 2 sec when used on a target who is casting a spell.

You could pick this one instead of Hungering cold but losing 60 runic power is far more Wasted then 2s Extra unreliable Silence effect.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Class mecaniques

Pop Anti Magic Shell -> Pillar Of Frost -> 3xObliterate -> Blood elf Silence (Optional) -> Howling Blast Spam + proc Of Talent ->Rune Tap -> 2x Obliterate And repeat with using Plague Strike + Frost strike but ideally Obliterate does more damage unless Facing Plate Healers.

Not much to it Damage Wise as this is my Opener.

Combine The Opening Strategy Of me By Using your focus strang on the healer -> Grip -> Hungering Cold

When in trouble have no Second toughts on using Lichborne unless your Healer/partner has 100% possibileties to stop damage From the opponent Team.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Viable Comps:

2v2:

Any Healer (Priest,Paladin,Resto Druid,Resto Shaman) / Dk Works perfectly Preferrably a class with cc Options such as Paladin / Priest .

When your Secure about your Playstyle/ Potentials you can Go Double Dps , Please dont take this as a joke but Its very important you Know everything about your class/potentials of Spells before you go Double dps

Rogue/dk

Mage/dk

Shadow Priest/dk

Feral Druid/dk

3v3:

Disc Priest,Rshaman,Hpaladin/Dk/Ele Shaman

Disc Priest,Rshaman,Hpaladin/dk/Mage

Disc Priest,Rshaman,Hpaladin/dk/rogue

This is Securely The Best Comps To score some e-peen rating.

And Once more if your Really Secure about everything you do you might want to try Triple Deeps.

DK/MAGE/ROGUE Works Insanely Great to my expierences.

DK/PROT PALADIN/MAGE

DK/PROT PALADIN/RET PALADIN

Thanks for feedback , never worked with a chardev but i'l play around with it and show you Best ones

becouse oblliterate is superior to frost strike to use so Less runic power for frost strike is a waiste

nannou , Frost strike Does Far less damage then obliterate for instance , an 7k combined obliterate compared to an 3-4k combined frost strike , the only classes you should wnna do frost strike over oblit is on Hpalas and thats just becouse oblit would hit the same as FS on Platers such as hpala.

Frost strike > Obliterate. Get 'dem crits.

If memory serves, Obliterate is physical, and Frost strike is frost damage, So on a low-armored target, with <70 frost resistance, (If they have a stupid amount, 300-400+ frost resistance, it'll cripple FS's damage) Obliterate'll always hit harder.

Oblit is pretty much inferior to Frost Strike in most situations @ 70. @ 71 with dual niffs. Oblit is better.

Not a bad guide honestly. Expect hate from people. Most are retarded like

Taylor why do you use glyph of howling blast instead of glyph of frost strike?

IDK if he is trying to be a dick. HB > FS > Oblit. if you spec'd for oblit which this guide is pointing @ HB > OBLIT > FS.

Mass chillblains = OP as fuck. And you don't have to use IT anymore. Not that you should have anyway because Coi > IT.

You might wanna throw Coi glyph up there. I might have missed it. But its pretty damn amazing if you have chillblains for kiting. Immbolize + damage > Strang/HC glyph.

Like i said. One of the few decent threads in the 70 forum. Most are just Half-Assed threads with information that is obvious. If you don't know what to gem + chant in this bracket for your class. And you need help. Please turn exp back on. K thx

No need to be huffy.
<

Glyphs are usually, (along with gear/gemming, etc.) situational.

Frost strike/Obliterate may be better in arena, whereas One of the two and Howling blast for battlegrounds, As you said, Mass chillblains is rather.. Strong.

Constructive posts are always nice, But try to be nice about it. Being condescending to others still learning the class is just downright low.

i see posts like...

I believe this should be posted in the "Guides" section...n00bface

Taylor why do you use glyph of howling blast instead of glyph of frost strike?

(assume Snookie was trying to be a dick)

Nice guide taylorbad

and i see people that are insulting someone who posts something contructive/ 50% or more valid. I don't expect any guide on this site to be like EJ guides. I just see ass hats cutting down someone who has the balls to step out to critisizm and make a guide on a class that everyone thinks they know everything about. Kudos to taylor. Idk you at all. But GW. Timestamp is a tard who has posted once in this thread and provided no contructive/usefull information.
