as ambush is normalized, we dont need to take the modifier into account here.

lets just have a look at weapon damage * 2,75.

poker: 26-49 (+6fire) -> 37,5 * 2,75 (+6fire) -> 103,125 (+6fire = 109,125) -> crit: 206,25 (+6fire = 212,25) -> 30%(15%) mitigation: 144,375(175,3125) (+6fire = 150,375(181,3125))

claw: 27-51 -> 39 * 2,75 -> 107,25 -> crit: 214,5 -> 30%(15%) mitigation: 150,15(182,325)



almost no diff on leather, but the claw CAN proc additional 35 shadow dmg.

in a worst case szenario (noncrit on leather 78,1875/75,075) you change 3dmg for a chance on +35dmg.



knowing this you must factor in the swingtimer reset from switching out the claw + the lower dmg from a possible first backstab.

so if you are a dagger rogue, do not use the claw...but if you change to swords anyways...the claw can deal more dmg than the poker.
 
Twink lore has it that the extra fire dmg is in fact factored into the ambush multiplier making the Poker the best Ambush dagger. You might want to check the countless threads about this topic on pwndepot.

the fire dmg is factored into the dmg range right? not unmitigated anymore???

if unmitigated the 239,25 contain 33dmg that wont be lowered by armor (6*2,75*2).

There is in fact real fire damage when you use the Poker, you notice that when a pala has the physical bubble up and tries to bandage and he is interrupted. But the fire dmg doesn't show anywhere in the logs and i think for the calculation of an Ambush it's just like a +(5-7)dmg enchant on the dagger. I think it will be quite hard to find out if the extra fire damage is mitigated by armor or not.



BTW in Theramore there is a lvl 1 dummy which ally twinks can use for testing stuff, you could go there and fiddle around with the Poker. Sadly i haven't found such a lvl 1 dummy for Horde yet.
 
the real reason poker is good is cause if a pally HoP's you just smack em with the poker and the fire damage goes through it and interrupts :D
