That would fall under the category of bad then. Metal isn't really a genre anymore anyway, thanks to all the horrific disfigured subgenres emerging from inbreeding.

Listening to Weezy's single for his new album, "The Carter 4". This shit ILLLLLL

Lil Wayne:

Excuse my charisma, vodka with a spritzer

Swagger down pat, call my shit Patricia

Young Money militia, and I am the commissioner

You don’t want start Weezy, cause the F is for Finisher

So misunderstood, but what’s a world without enigma?

Two bitches at the same time, synchronized swimmers

Got the girl twisted cause she open when you twist her

Never met the bitch, but I fuck her like I missed her

Life is the bitch, and death in her sister

Sleep is the cousin, what a fuckin’ family picture

You know father time, we all know mother nature

It’s all in the family, but I am of no relation

No matter who’s buyin’, I’m a celebration

Black and white diamonds, fuck segregation

Fuck that shit, my money up, you nigga's just Honey Nut

Young Money runnin’ shit and you nigga's just runner ups

I don’t feel I done enough, so Imma keep on doin’ this shit

Lil Tunechi or Young Tuna fish

Lil Wayne:

I’m goin’ back in

Okay

I lost my mind, it’s somewhere out there stranded

I think you stand under me, if you don’t understand me

Had my heart broken by this woman named Tammy

But hoes gon’ be hoes, so I couldn’t blame Tammy

Just talked to moms, told her she the sweetest

I beat the beat up, call it self defense

Swear, man, I be seein’ through these nigga's like sequins

Nigga's think they He-Men, pow, pow, the end

Talkin’ to myself because I am my own consultant

Married to the money, fuck the world, that’s adultery

You full of shit, you close your mouth and let yo ass talk

Young Money eatin’, all you haters do is add salt

Stop playin’, bitch, I got this game on deadbolt

Mind so sharp, I fuck around and cut my head off

Real nigga all day and tomorrow

But these mothafucka's talkin’ crazy like they jaw broke

Glass half empty, half full, I’ll spill ya

Try me and run into a wall, outfielder

You know Imma ball ’til they turn off the field lights

The fruits of my labor, I enjoy ‘em while they still ripe

Bitch, stop playin’, I do it like a king do

If these nigga's animals, then Imma have a mink soon

Tell ‘em bitches I say put my name on the wall

I speak the truth, but I guess that’s a foreign language to y’all

And I call it like I see it, and my glasses on

But most of y’all don’t get the picture ‘less the flash is on

Satisfied with nothin’, you don’t know the half of it

Young Money, Cash Money, uh

Paper chasin’, tell that paper, “Look, I’m right behind ya”

Bitch, real Gs move in silence like lasagna

People say I’m borderline crazy, sorta kinda

Woman of my dreams, I don’t sleep so I can’t find her

You nigga's are gelatin, peanuts to an elephant

I got through that sentence like a subject and a predicate

Yeah, with a swag you would kill for

Money too strong, pockets on bodybuilder

Jumped in a wishin’ well, now wish me well

Tell ‘em kiss my ass, call it kiss and tell

Cory Gunz:

Word to my mama, I’m out of my lima bean

Don’t wanna see what that drama mean, get some Dramamine

Llama scream, hotter than summer sun on a Ghana queen

Now all I want is hits, bitch, Wayne signed a fiend

I played the side for you nigga's that’s tryna front and see

Son of Gunz, Son of Sam, you nigga's the son of me

Pause for this dumber speech, I glow like Buddha

Disturb me, and you’ll be all over the flo’ like Luda

Bitch, I flow like scuba, bitch, I’m bold like Cuba

And I keep a killer ho, she gon’ blow right through ya

I be mackin’, ’bout my stackin’, now I pack like a mover

Shout to ratchet for backin’ out on behalf of my shooter

Nigga's think they high as I, I come laugh at your ruler

Cash Money cold, bitch, but our actions is cooler

Wayne, these nigga's out they mind

I done told these fuck nigga's, some wanted dimes

That I keep these bucks steady on my mind

Tuck these, I fuck these on your mind, pause

To feed them, on my grind, did I get a little love?

Keep throwin’ my sign in the middle

Hit ‘em up, piece on my side, ’cause ain’t no peace on my side, bitch

I’m a man, I visit urinals abroad

Tune told me to, I’m shootin’ when the funeral outside

I’m uptown, thoroughbred, a BX nigga, ya heard?

I struggled through the cringiness and incoherence for a good 15 minutes to write this.

The individual lines have very forced double entendres, there is no cohesion to link the entire lyric. Subjects are frequently brought up and not expanded upon as though written by someone afflicted by ADD. Redundancies are employed to force rhyming (newsflash: poems do not have to rhyme). Clichés are used to... increase accessibility, I guess? Even though they should be avoided unless purposefully seeking the effect of cringe. The writer clearly does not understand the purpose of metaphors, they are weakened heavily when they are explained although they are already so primitive that the true meaning is ridiculously obvious. Similes are overused to the point where they become an annoyance, and are often nonsensical.

That and the fact that the disregard for basic grammar is contributing to the significant dumbing down of a generation...

I give this an F- as a piece of literature.

I'll have to remind you that this is not an essay nor a poem, but a song. A hiphop song doesn't need to have perfect grammar. I assume the listeners prefer to hear a better flow than lyrics that doesn't fit the beat, when you can understand what the rapper is trying to say perfectly fine.

There is no way that you could understand the morepart of the lines in this song in 15 minutes. It doesn't matter how high your intelligence is, but has to do with knowledge of who several persons are that are mentioned and general knowledge of the hiphop scene in the US. But also how a rap song is built.

I can't understand how you miss the greatness of the perfect metaphors and how clever some of the lines are. Maybe as an outsider to hiphop you just shake your head because "that doesn't even make sense" and move on, but trust me, every line has a meaning and has been thought out for a reason.

Lil Wayne is known for jumping between subjects while maintaining the use of metaphors that will make you shake your head in admire and wonder how he came up with that, not for being realistic. And this is a perfect song where he shows his style. And it being a single for his album which is supposed to be his greatest ever, he did not hold back on going hard. He obviously wants it to spread around and be listened to alot, so he makes quote-able lines to make the song a topic you discuss with your friends. Examples:

"Mind so sharp, I fuck around and cut my head off"

"Bitch, real Gs move in silence like lasagna"

Because this will help his popularity raise and therefor making good numbers on his future record sales.

I advice you to visit Rap Genius | Discover the Meaning of Rap Lyrics in a couple of days, or hours, when this song has been publiced to understand more of the lyrics. While waiting you can take a look on this song Lil Wayne which is kind of similar to "6'7" to see how a rap song is built up. This will hopefully make you understand more clearer what kind of text we are discussing and not assume that it's for your English exams in school.

right, i listen to music not necessarily because of the lyrics, but because it brings an atmosphere and feeling that i enjoy.. if i wanted lyrics, i would read a book or a poem. heck, my favorite music doesn't even have lyrics

Perhaps to you, but not according to a music industry that has been around for thirty years more or less. With million listeners. And if my statement was false, the hiphop scene hasn't been like it is now. If people didn't prefer what I said, they wouldn't buy such albums, and if they wouldn't buy albums the creators wouldn't make money and if they didn't make money they would change their philosophy, no? But people do prefer it, atleast in this genre.

Ok bro. My apologies for not believing you understood some of the slang and not knowing the names and what they stood for.

Like: Lil Tunechi or Young Tuna fish, call my shit Patricia, cause the F is for Finisher, Young Money, Cash Money, Dramamine, Son of Gunz, all over the flo’ like Luda, BX nigga.

Which is sometimes a must for understanding what he means properly.

Hamcake said:

Not necessarily. It's his personal style of writing. He has songs with more depth, believe me. Someone with poor writing is Soulja Boy or Lil B.

It's called wordplay and is not one of the heavy lines in a hiphop song, more like a filler. Most songs have fillers, in any genre. I'm sure you know. He clearly doesn't use it here to impress the listener but to make it sound good, which it does.

It is. I don't know if its your lack of knowledge, which I doubt, or if your ironic. There are rhyme schemes, 8/16/32/64 bar verses, and more that you can find yourself if you feel the urge to understand or remain having no clue.

argumentum ad populum

also I'm not sure if you understood what false dichotomy meant, sorry about that

"In a false dichotomy (also called a false dilemma, either or, black or white, the missing middle) you are presented with two choices, when in fact there are more than two choices"

yes, yes it is. I was merely pointing out how cringy and awful it was. ANYONE could think of that, but only a moron would think of that and then actually use it in a song instead of trying to think of something better. It isn't clever in any way.

Yes, 4/4 time is self constructing in this regard. this is not a creative decision. In fact, it could be viewed as a lack of musical aptitude.

1-2% of Rap/Hip-Hop contains Auto-Tune, if even so much. That's not a fair conclusion. Then there are voice fixes, mastering, raising/lowering the pitch, and many more ways you can edit your song. And this is a part of every genre and every song that's somewhat known and famous.

But I can understand your statement. Some auto-tuned songs are terrible, like more or less all of Kanye's work. While some are terrific, like "Colors", in my opinion ofcourse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK4fC-Ep4Is"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK4fC-Ep4Is

As I said before, this song doesn't contain any story-line, most probably because he did not want to reach out to his audiences with a story-line kind of song. Far from everything is unrelated, in more or less the whole song he is boasting and flexing while saying taking a leak on everyone going against him.

Hamcake said:

Maybe everyone can figure out a rhyme alike that. But he knows when to use it. To build a momentum, build up the next line which will make you applaud. I think it's a decent bar for a song like this. Both espouce himself and humiliate his "enemy".

Hamcake said:

Judging something over how the bad performers perform is never fair. Yes there are some shit rappers, no doubt. But at the same time there are as many shit guitarists. It's the same to say that notes/chords are worthless for guitarists because some people just spam the strings.

Hamcake said:

It could also be viewed as a way to build a rap song, which was what you requested. Then again, it isn't written in stone how to construct a rap song, just guidelines.

This is all your opinions. Just wondering, do you like - or don't hate as much as everything else, anything at all in the hiphop/rap genre? Or in this song even, any line/rhyme/whatever that you think is clever? If so, what? Or could you do this as good as a multi-platinum selling rapper? And again if so, go make a song. You might earn a dollar or two!
