crit reduction in pvp

I have been reading some about this and thought id see what everyone else thought about this. I ran probably 30+ test unbuffed on a lvl 60 target dummy in org. I just used smite to attack for 1 minute per test. Half of the test i ran with mana etched pauldrons and mana etched chest for the +35 crit 2 piece set bonus. The other half of test were ran with Incanters robes and hallowed pauldrons. All the test were done with the same enchants and gems. The mana etched out preformed the other gear every time by around 2k damage. Incanters/hallowed 40k mana etched chest/shoulders 42k. These are by no means exact numbers and there were a few test where the gap closed but by far the majority had a very very similar outcome. My question is this......With the 25% crit reduction in pvp will the mana etched still outperform the other gear in battle grounds? I was also wondering if this reduction applies to world pvp or just instanced?

I apologize for having 2 threads up towards top at same time but i thought this deserved its own thread instead of being buried in the other thread. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Also I play a 69 horde disc on illidan . My btag is everdim#1930. Myself or my guild hasn't been very active in the 19 scene for awhile now but I do run 69 bg's every night. Add me if you need a less than average healer for bg's.

I’d say that the mana etched set still outperforms them. Especially as disc.

Although the crit reduction does hinder their effectiveness it’s still adding to the chance that a spell will crit. Heals, damage and bubbles.

Crit is still useful in pvp. It can save yours or others lives and secure kills that could be the difference between a win or loss.

I’m not saying stack crit but the amount you get from the mana etched gear compared to the other stats you get from Incanters and hollowed warrants it’s place as bis.

Can't go wrong with crit. I used to be haste->vers, but after getting some fancy crit items from the dragon event I decided to [start to] swap haste->crit (Spriest). On top of echoing what Hom said, I'd also had having high crit is just a quality of life improvement / more enjoyable to play. For your other question, crit is reduced in all forms of pvp AFIK, not just instanced.

Crit provides the least amount of damage throughput due to a 50%* reduction to Crit Strikes in PVP and suffering from mathematically derived diminishing returns that are unique to the nature of Critical Strikes being a chance. Stacking it without any sort of class functionality depending on it will be detrimental to your efficacy.

Edit: Obviously 5/5 gems are still BiS. Never know who's reading or how they might interpret what you have said.
