EU+US Could someone please explain professions now?

Sorry guys, completely forgot to mention that I was inquiring about the usefulness of professions pertaining to PVP on a F2P at level 20, which i do believe has been answered at this point in the responses. Thank you for the feedback — Looks like I'll just skip on the professions, as there doesn't appear to be any benefit whatsoever at this point.

So essentially, we are both making assumptions. One of us will soon be able to say "I told you so."

One way is to try it yourself. Take your 20 into a BG and try to use food or pots to heal. Doesn't work. Bandages do but they're next to useless.
