Considerations on Rolling a Toon

Anything that can heal, if you want to join the bandwagon. Something that doesn't heal, other than hunter, if you want to be unique. There ya go! =D

Now, I have a question. Can anyone enlighten me on what BGs are merged now? Only battle grounds really matter to me, and I don't really make friends online that much, so even if I'm the only twink on my server, that's fine with me.
I think all battlegroups are merged.
another thing you may want to consider is what spec. if you are like me and want your toon to have the best gear a f2p can get, then you roll on whatever faction has said gear.

so lets say druid for instance.

if resto, you may want to choose alliance because (atleast last time i checked) it had a better stam set, and hybrid set.
if boomkin, horde for the crit gear
if feral, alliance for the skillpatch + ring and other BiS st00f
Horde have some decent resto gear items, like gloves of the hero, bracers, boots

Your RACE--I took out the racials that have no benefit for F2P's and added one for Blood Elves. The first bullet for each race is what I consider to be the most important racial from a PvP perspective.

Dwarf
Gnome
  • Escape Artist: Escape the effects of any immobilization or movement speed reduction effect. Instant cast. 1.45 min cooldown.–Breaks roots and snares.
  • Arcane Resistance: Reduces Arcane damage by 1%- Arcane attacks.
  • Expansive Mind: Increases mana pool by 5%.
  • Engineering Specialization: 15 point skill bonus to Engineering.–this lets you use slightly larger stun grenades. The stun duration is the same, only the damage is more…not much of an advantage.
  • Shortblade Specialization: Expertise with Daggers and One-Handed Swords increased by 1%.
Human
  • Every Man for Himself: Removes all movement impairing effects and all effects which cause loss of control of your character.–This shares the cooldown with the PvP trinket…the racial isn’t as great as it looks though, as we only have a few trinket options and some players may go for the trinket anyway as the trinket also gives resilience (especially for those that would have trouble getting AGM trinkets and don’t really have any other option).
  • Diplomacy: Reputation gains increased by 10%.–This is actually pretty huge if you want to grind reps for the achievements.
  • Mace Specialization: Increases expertise with maces and two-handed maces by 1%.
  • Sword Specialization: Increases expertise with All Swords by 1%.
  • The Human Spirit: Increases spirit by 3%.
Night Elf
  • Shadowmeld: Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect, 2 minute cooldown.–Good defensive skill, especially for Hunters who also have a pet that can stealth.
  • Quickness: Increases the chance to dodge melee and ranged attacks by 2%.
  • Elusivesness: Reduces the chance enemies have to detect you while Shadowmelded or Stealthed.
  • Nature Resistance: Reduces Nature damage taken by 1%- Nature attacks.
  • Wisp Spirit: Increases movement speed when dead by 75%.
Draenei
  • Gift of the Naaru: Heals the target for 20% of their total health over 15 sec. 3 minute cooldown.–At 2,000 health, the typical toon would get 400 health from this if they live the 15 secs.
  • Heroic Presence : Increases chance to hit with all spells and attacks by 1%.
  • Gemcutting: 10 point skill bonus to Jewelcrafting. — Allows them to make the 400 health Stones vs. the 180 health stones that everyone else can make.–At 2,000 health, this would be an extra 10% health for a toon if they lived the 12 seconds. Between Gift of the Naaru and the statues, its about a 40% health increase for Draenei.
  • Shadow Resistance: Reduces Shadow damage by 1%- Shadow attacks: Priests and Warlocks.
Worgen

Orc
  • Blood Fury: Activate to increase attack power by 37 or spell damage by 20 for 15 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.–This is very roughly a 30% increase in damage. (can someone confirm these numbers?
  • Hardiness: Reduces duration of stun effects by 15%.
  • Command: Damage done by Hunter, Shaman, Mage, and Warlock pets increased by 2%.
  • Axe Specialization: Expertise with Fist Weapons and all Axes increased by 1%.
Tauren
  • War Stomp: Activate to stun opponents – Stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.
  • Endurance : Base health increased by 5%.--This is only about a 2 Stam (or 1% if you’re at 2,000 health) increase as its from your base.
  • Nature Resistance: Nature damage reduced by 1%- Nature attacks.
Troll
  • Berserking : Activate to increase melee, ranged, and spell haste by 20% for 10 seconds. 3 minute cooldown.
  • Regeneration : Increase health regeneration bonus by 10%. Also allows 10% of normal health regen during combat.
  • Beast Slaying : 5% damage bonus when fighting against Beasts.–includes Hunter pets, Druids in any form, and Shamans in Wolf Form.
  • Dead Eye: Expertise with ranged weapons increased by 1%.
  • Da Voodoo Shuffle : Reduces the duration of all movement impairing effects by 15%.
Forsaken
  • Will of the Forsaken : Removes any Charm, Fear and Sleep effect. 2 minute cooldown.–Useful against Fear, Psychic Terror, and Psychic Scream (am I missing any and does this share a cooldown with the PvP trinket?)
  • Cannibalize : When activated, regenerates 8-9% of total health and mana every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. Only works on Humanoid or Undead corpses within 5 yards. Any movement, action, or damage taken while Cannibalizing will cancel the effect.
  • Shadow Resistance: Reduces Shadow damage by 1%- Shadow attacks.
Blood Elf
  • Arcane Torrent : Activate to silence all enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds. In addition, you gain 15 Energy, Rage, Focus, or 6% Mana. 2 min. cooldown.
  • Arcane Affinity : 10 point skill bonus to Enchanting.–This gives you access to the +1 Agility to Cloak and the +1 Stamina to Shield enchants.
  • Arcane Resistance: Reduces Arcane damage by 1%- Arcane attacks.
  • Bloodthistle Gathering: Its not a listed racial trait, but only Blood Elves can use Bloodthistle, which gives them +10 Spell Power–This is roughly a 10% damage (confirm?) increase and more importantly, you can have it up all the time, versus some of these other racials that last 12-15 seconds and then have a 2-3 minute cooldown.
Goblin

Pandaren
Alright, first of all you might want to add that goblin's rocket jump and rocket barrage share a cooldown :)

Undeads have Touch of the Grave, sort of drain life when hit ability

Worgens have Flayer, increased skinning lvl and speed.

And Taurens have Cultivation, increased herbalism lvl and speed.

And the dwarf ability, Stoneform, should also remove Rogue's Deadly Posion and Hunter's Serpent Shot

And Undead's Will of the Forsaken does not share cooldown with PvP trink :)

And though I can't confirm this, I think that night elvs runs 5% faster in stealth than other races.
Edit: confirmed, was running with 125% run speed on my nelf with no minor speed increase, only Nightstalker

if you look at the disease, poison, and bleed links, they're listed in there. i can't figure out how to the pet abilities or a rogue's poison to filter out in wowhead without a bunch of extra crap also coming up so i listed them separately.

i'm also deleting most of the redundant comments that are already in the tooltips.

no problem, no problem, ok, ok, ok, no problem no problem :)

oh one more thing, if you're a nerd like me and like all your toons to have sexy mog sets, building your mog set when first rolling your toon is a good idea. just to make sure you don't miss out on an item that could be your only option for a certain color set.

good idea :) Very few items have 'one of a kind' looks, if you look the item up on Wowhead, you can click the 'same model as' and a list of identical items will show :)

Bear in mind that "same model" does not necessarily mean the same color.
