Competitive games are go! Realm v Realm Sat/Sun

Cheesetoast

Legend
There's two major aspects of this bracket that I enjoy. The community aspect and competitive games between motivated players. Every now and then (recently in about 1 / 6 games) you see these sorts of games happening. Organised games are a chance to help unexperienced players and experienced players alike become more battleground savvy and work better in a team environment. It happens in other low level brackets, it happens in end game; lets make it happen more for f2ps. We are the most active bracket and there are many decent comps floating around without competition. If they correspond it's usually by lucking out and finding themselves in the same bg. This is a thread to help those floaters find each other and get competitive games happening

"You know what makes a good winner? Practice." Ernest Hemingway
There is a common misconception that losing a premade is a smite to yours and your team's dignity and that losing is worse than playing at all. The players that win games are the ones who learn from their losses.

A similar thread worked for the EU 19 bracket activity. It can work here in a similar way.

Talk to each other. Form your teams. Be ready for good games

- SKYPE Message me your skype details and I can add you to the skype group to help coordinate games. At the moment the group has 50 people
- *new* If a 10 v 10 screen shot is posted I will update with some sort of official wins section
- Let's talk pvp! Post screen shots and videos of realm v realm games here!

Dates / Highlights
18/19 Jan - WSG First weekend successful! The skype group has 35 people so far and people are using it to set up simuls. By the looks of it Ursin showed their stripes Saturday and Sunday, winning all their games and wrecking other smaller groups with their 8 person premade. GG's to everyone
25/26 Jan - WSG Successful second weekend. Highlights BWL 5v5 Ursin. its clear that these two realms have stepped up and i personally can't wait to see what comes from these two in the future. There are lots of new people in the skype group. Its starting to be used for premades during the week; 45 people and counting. Keep it up
1/2 Feb - WSG Less comps active this weekend. Maybe because of the superbowl. AP, BWL and Ursin had comps. This game happened. 50 people in skype. Looking forward to AB weekend coming up
8/9 Feb - AB cta
15/16 Feb - WSG
22/23 Feb - WSG
1/2 Mar - WSG cta

Are you the warrior on Aggramar EU I seen botting in BG's past 2 weeks? Or maybe just same names... Cheesetoast

I'm glad something like this got started, something similar crossed my mind a little while back.

Bop, Odb, possibly one other, and myself will be queuing from Mok'Nathal if there is still room. I don't totally understand how this is going to work though... everyone just queues up at 6PM PST? Will it be simil queued? Or do we just hope that we all run into each other (which is pretty likely). And when do the queues stop?

The idea is that this becomes a recurring thing every weekend. You get together a team (or multiple teams) to represent your realm and queue hoping you will run into another realm. If people started initiating simul-queue scenarios that would be great. One idea would be to post contact person/s for each realm. What do people think about that? It would make it easier to get in contact for simul's

I don't play EU anymore or warrior. I guess it's someone elses favourite snack too

Yea, I mean, it would be really easy to post on here or somewhere else, or just set up a quick skype group, or have the leaders of a couple of the groups know each others and ask if they got pop. At a certain point if it gets enough traction though I bet it wouldn't really matter, considering alot of people would be queuing and you would be bound to one into one premade or the other.

I made a skype group. *Message me your details so I can add you

edit: *This goes for everyone

Imma try and be there both nights, thanks for getting this rolling Cheese. GG tonight Izac. Horde played like ass but such is the basin sometimes. The Chastise into DM was throwing me off ;)

Yeah good games tonight! Thanks man. Refreshing to get sheeped every once in a while. Always have to watch for you in bgs.

I like this idea. I've thought about something similar for a while... 3-5 man teams.. maybe find a way to create a ratings system

maybe find a way to create a ratings system

I like the idea. If games are considered by both parties to be official representations of their realm it could work. I can see it snowballing into arguments over unbalenced teams. Maybe if people post 10v10 wins I can post them in the official thread.

Cheesetoast Central Eu time please :) ! ! ! Might get the best guys in my realm to do this ! Btw we might queue as Alliance too.

I can think of no quicker way to suck the fun right out of an idea like this than to attach some sort of rating system to it. There's no way to objectively measure relative performance, especially when not only differing compositions but also the pug factor skew results unpredictably. No, if you want this to be an ongoing, eagerly anticipated occurrence, leave scores out of it. All the successful events of the past (world PvP, Gnomeball, etc) have been for the intrinsic fun value and no leaderboard was kept.

That was my initial thought but I think if just 10 v 10 results were recorded it would be more of an archetypal thing. Like a bank of games to give an indication of whats happened in the past and that games are actually happening.

Im not going to run any camp , because 6PM US = 3:10 AM EU .... :( !

Common man, cant u just stay up for 1 night, we are doing some awesome things here( I stayed up till 5 am for Ahh' Qiraj WPvP)
