Coming Back To WoW To Twink: A Few Questions

Hello Twinkies!

((First let me say I am sorry if any of the info I am asking for has already been discussed somewhere else. I searched for quite a while and never really found answers to my questions.))

Here I am again, bored with WoW and really my only desire is to have a twink at one of the brackets so I can relive some old memories. I used to be pretty big into twinking pre-bc. I ran with a guild named <QQ Here's A Tissue> on Ticho for a while until our leader died IRL and things slowly fell apart. At that time I played an orc shaman and was a dedicated flag runner. I can honestly say that I loved that character and had some of my best times in WoW on him. I want to have that feeling again, so that's why I'm here.

I have quite a few characters to choose from for twinking, so I am here for advice and suggestions. I'll list my characters that I could twink and see which one you guys think I should choose:

25 Warlock (full heirloom set besides guild pieces/ have weapon)

37 Hunter - (Full BoA/weapon - guild set)

45 Rogue ( no heirlooms)

48 Shaman (chest and 2h heirloom weapon)

27 Hunter (different server - no BoA)

Now for a few questions I have:

1. What bracket has the biggest following?

2. What server should I choose, or does it matter?

3. I have a pretty high interest is the 70 bracket, but have heard some say it's not worth it since you are fighting 74s in wrath gear. Do they still have queues with only level 70s, or if not is it really that bad that you can't beat 74s even in full arena gear? BC was my favorite xpac thus far, so this is why I want a 70.

4. Exactly how long are queues. I would most likely be playing later at night, so what are the peak hours and do queues take longer than 10 minutes? I know that's a low number, but just let me know exactly how long you think the average queue is.

5. Am I completely out of luck without heirlooms? I have quite a few BoA items, but really didn't want to roll on my server.

6. I've been away for a little while, and this is sorta a dumb question. Are all the battlegroups tied into one now? I noticed on the main forums people trying to organize groups together to get people queueing at the same time and yet they were all from different battlegroups? Can someone explain this to me?

Thanks to all who actually read all of this lol. I feel like I'm missing one of the questions I had, but I'll add it if I think of it. All suggestions and advice is welcome!

1. 19, followed by 70

2. If you're EU, the main twinking server is Draenor (get AGM before transferring). Not sure about US.

3. -

4. During the evening, expect queues from 5-10 minutes (for 19s mind you, 29-49 usually have to coordinate their queue times. I think 70 is pretty fast as well).

5. There are decent blue alternatives mostly (Also, it looks like Blizz will be implementing cross-server-BoAs in the future).

6. Yes, all battlegroups have been merged (hence the decent que times nowadays). Basically, unless you want to duel other twinks a lot and run premades, you don't have to go on any specific server.

Thanks for the reply!

You pretty much gave me the answers I wanted. I'm still concerned about 70-74 bracket and the difference between level 70s and level 74s. I don't want to have a twinked out character at 70 and it not even matter in the BGs because the 74s can stomp me, is this an issue?

Also, as a side note I am a US player.

3. I have a pretty high interest is the 70 bracket, but have heard some say it's not worth it since you are fighting 74s in wrath gear. 70s is decent; the wrath gear will only affect you in BGs since in arenas once u ding 71 ur removed from the team + cant participate in arenas.

I find even at lvl 74 if you know how to play you can still take them; just requires more CD usage and bandages.

Downside to 70s is that scaling is wack (as with 80) warriors and rogues can abuse agi/ crit and reach 45%+ easily along with resillience. (Old team got disbanded at 2.1k rating (pre disc buff), disc got buffed and i managed to break 2.2k again with ease; i believe the score was 69-5, losing to rsham + frost mage...dam spellsteal kek)

Less utility so some classses dominate easy. Frost mages / Disc priests / Resto shamans / Prot paladins / Holys.

Are some which you may find have an advantage due to spell distribution + scaling.

Awesome, so it sounds like once I hit 70 and get geared up it won't be that bad. Just gotta have some skill and get the right gear and I should be good. Really all I want to do is have some fun. I plan to get to 70 and just hang out in outlands ganking people as I see them while I wait on queues. I just really miss the BC days and want to relive them somehow.

Oh.. I'll have to mention this, You'll probably find that mages will be sucking your ass all the time.

4K - 6K Icelances, 3K - 6K Frostbolts, Massive living bomb dps.

Get ready to Q_Q my friend.

Since you're a US player, the answers vary slightly:

1. 70, then 19 (both play daily), then 29/39/49 (who all play three days a week and growing).

2. Doesn't really matter now with merged battlegroups. Being on a server with a twinker guild might be more fun, though.

3. The 70-74 bracket is a strange beast. While 74s gain strength in their main abilities and spells (maybe 25%), stat scaling degrades their secondary stats (resilience, crit, hit, haste, spirit) by an average of 33% by the time they reach 74. Most of the best gear of the bracket remains 70 gear, though there are some notable exceptions for certain classes.

4. For 19s and 70s, queue times are fine later at night. 29s, 39s, and 49s all start at 9pm EST/6pm PST or a little later on their scheduled game days, and waits average 25-30 minutes if you miss a pop. Otherwise, you'll get right in the next game.

5. You're fine without heirlooms for most classes and brackets. BoA caster maces and caster staves are especially strong.

6. For battlegrounds (and random instances), all battlegroups got merged. There are reports of remaining hiccups with this, but overall games seem very multi-grouped.
