Maybe this comparison will work;
Imagine 19s as a large business. In large businesses, the only thing that matters is profit. If you don't bring something to the business table that increases profits then you're of no use to that company.
19s worked similarly. If you didn't bring something valuable to the table (WSG), you were of no use to the bracket because the bracket did not profit from your presence. Players with thicker skins and the desire to be at the top of their game were the ones who thrived. Weak individuals who couldn't handle criticisms on their work ethic (gameplay) left or didn't even attempt to get interested in the bracket.
Hell, this website were sitting on right now is a great example of that. Myrm didn't have the drive/want/time to further TI so Conq and company broke away, eventually causing a merge of the forums.
Anyways, all of this is pretty well irrelevant because the bracket will never be what it was. New names and faces will replace us, but the level of competition that existed will take years to rebound, if it ever does.
