Cloak enchant research

OG
I'm doing research on the various available cloak enchants for 19s. I found this a very difficult point in deciding on my mage gear, so I'm going to do some exact research on which enchant is overall best in WSG.

Now my question that those that are wondering too - I need some dataz. Mostly interested in how much melee and how much spell damage you take during a WSG. Looking for data over multiple WSGs. Also add to your results if they were premade BGs and what your class is. The more your Recount messures the better, so do a couple of BGs in a row. When you're done fill in this form:

Class:

Premade? Y/N

Melee/Ranged white damage taken:

Nature damage taken:

Frost damage taken:

Fire damage taken:

Shadow damage taken:

Arcane damage taken:

Thanks!

Rayu

NB I want data for 19s ONLY. So don't give me your level 16 Recount of your levelling rogue. Thanks anyway.

i have a mage and i'll use recount and get back with you.

Twink Gear Score?

just curious how much Wowhead profiler is showing for you gear score.

edit: keep in mind that exploited gear that no longer counts is applied to gear score, but i'm curious how much the score is w/o exploits (that don't work anymore of course)

Cool idea let me know what the results say. My guess is 70 armor will be the best because of the hunters and rogues. 10 shadow resist might be good for resisting priest and lock fears in a premade though?

Considering you are wondering which enchant for which situation, for a mage.

there is not much chants availlable to you.

+3 agi wont be usefull at all.

+70 armor is probably the only thing you would want.

+12 dodge is something i dont even know if its still possible to get but could be usefull.

besides that, anything else is probably just too weak to be any good.

that too... but awesome i am not sure.

what i hate about blizzard resistances is that it takes a heck of a lot to even become "fair" in their ways.

Resisting Psychic Scream or an 8 second Lock Fear is game-changing.

As human warr 19 I ran recount in DONT RESET mode over 50+ wsg's wearing a variety of cloaks. I've got the actual numbers somewhere will try and find them. from memory the damage mitigation of the resist cloaks came out something like :

5 resist : between 4-6% incoming damage resist except holy 0%, shadow about 7-8%.

10 shadow : shadow 10%

15 nature : nature 10-12%

If you look at the resistance formula on wowwiki and apply to 19's 5 resist all should give just under 5% damage mitigation. I never worked out why incoming shadow damage mitigation was always higher than other schools on 5 resist. It just was. Try it for yourself.

If you played draenei/undead pre-WotLK when you did that it's probably because of the racial ability. It has since been changed to hit% instead of resistance.

I persoanlly use +10 Shadow resist to cloak, i notice a significant amount of resisted DoTs and fears alike. only thing i can think of would be either the nature resist if your melee dps, to help resist roots from the druid, or +5 to all, give you less of a chance to resist roots and fears/dots, but helps resist frostbolt, which if you are melee can help, and if im correct the arcane will help with polymorph?

Never tried +10 shadow resistance myself, might give it a try though.

+10 shadow resist for most classes. +70 armor for healadins with cloth gear, +Stealth for rogues, and +3 agility for other dps classes.

I think the OP wanted to know about mages though. in a premade situation a mage's biggest enemies are warlocks and priests because a fear can really put them out of position. Not to mention those nagging dots on you. 70 armor can help against hunters but good hunters will be either on the EFC or getting into position on the EFC. Only reason an O hunter should be hitting you is if they feel like it in passing, you are low on health, or if they really just want to kill you cuz you are pissing them off.

It takes very little time for a CC Mage to achieve that status with a hunter.
