"Best" class right now is hunter. But there are tons of them in 19 bracket right now, so some more respectable/appreciated classes while not being underpowered are - Rogue, Mage, Priest, Paladin, and Druid. Certain specs of those classes aren't viable, and the classes not mentioned are currently underpowered.

Nah, I think you have to support new players coming in and I feel like having them be successful is one of the best ways to keep them interested. Then hopefully after he gets into it, he rolls a class that is a little more interesting, or fun.
