I. INTRODUCTION

About the Author: I go by the in game name Samhain, I've played in the nineteen bracket from Vanilla all the way through Warlords of Draenor. I originally played rogue but throughout the years I have played every class in each of their expansions and have become very knowledgeable about every aspect of every class. With the announcement of Classic WoW servers at Blizzcon 2017, I am making this guide to help the players that didn't get to experience the nineteen bracket as it was at the games original release.

II. CHOOSING YOUR RACE

You may choose to select your race based on two factors, you can play casually and select your favorite race or you can select competitively which will mostly be dependent on race jump boxes and racial abilities. At the end of the day do what you want, just keep in mind that competitive play will require specific races and genders to have a competitive edge.
CLASS BONUS
Priests get an additional +2 Intellect and +3 Spirit.

III. GEARING & ENCHANTING

Gearing your Priest in Classic WoW is a little more complex than in current retail because there is no option to lock your experience. Discovering the areas
you need to do your quests in before hand and doing your quests at the earliest level possible is vital.

I actually loved reading this thank for for the look back. I remember doing all this stuff with my buddy as i stood around dead as to avoid gaining exp lol. good o'l days

Hello PotNoodle, the best race on alliance side to play as priest is human, at least at the level 19 bracket, that changes from level 20+ due to the the dwarfs second priest specific racial https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=6346/fear-ward.

Though humans do share the same priest racial as dwarf https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=19236/desperate-prayer, their other racial abilities are much better than dwarfs.

With rogues being very powerful in the 19 bracket you will see many of them and https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20600/perception is a great way to counter them before eating an ambush.

As I said in the guide mana efficiency is a very important thing in Classic WoW all serious twink healers will have an alternate mana regeneration set stacking spirit making https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20598/the-human-spirit a very useful racial to have.

Also though https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20599/diplomacy is not directly useful in PvP, it makes farming your https://classic.wowhead.com/item=16768/furbolg-medicine-pouch a bit easier.

Laslty I would like to point out that dwarf racials don't offer anything you can't rid of yourself. Poisons are removed with https://classic.wowhead.com/item=6452/anti-venom. and frost root and snare effects can be removed with https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=527/dispel-magic.

It's been sometime since I have updated this guide I intend on updating it soon with better hyperlinks and more information.

Really cool guide! but you didn't mention anything about class specific addons.. what are those? found a brief note on them here, but that's the first I hear about them o_O

I also recommend the addon Healcomm. It tells you when an ally has an incoming heal. This helps save mana and prevent overhealing.

As a long time user of Healcom, I highly recommend it. I can't imagine not having it ><

Just come across this guide, questioning this specifically - Power Word: Shield is not worth using in vanilla, it costs too much mana for such a low amount of absorption, you will only be throwing mana away that could be used much more efficiently, if your ally is in danger of dying I recommend spamming Lesser Heal (Rank 1) instead of casting Powerword: Shield. -

Power Word: Shield isn't for heal efficiency, it's to avoid spell interruption and rage generation - as well as an instant 'heal' and a pre-emtive 'heal'. Therefore i would have to agree quite significantly, and say that that PWS is in fact a very important spell and worth using!
