Cataclysm Hunter Weapon

I am unsure if a post similar to this has already been created. (Yes I used the search function and did not find a relevant thread)

I have been thinking about making a hunter for when Cataclysm comes out so I can see how the differences between mana and energy are. Without mana, TCS and similar weapons will be obsolete. I have been trying to find a suitable replacement. The items I have found so far are:

Scythe Axe - Item - World of Warcraft (6 agility, 3 stamina)

Massive Battle Axe - Item - World of Warcraft (5 agility, 5 stamina or 8 agility)

Does anyone know of anything that might be superior to these?

Thanks for the feedback

P.S. I could not figure out how to get the WoWhead item links to show up when hovering the mouse over them. If someone could tell me how to do that I would be very appreciative.

Don't forget that, with Cataclysm, there will be a ton of new quests available to both alliance and horde, hopefully with a ton of new rewards for us to use. While those two seem decent, I would not put my money on those being the best available.

Why start this shizzle when it won't be out for another 6 months and not knowing anything they could introduce in that time =/

We have no idea. possibly some new weapon, but maybe something like seraphs will get its spirit converted into haste and that will become new BiS

Splenda:

Both are worthless.

I think worthless is an exaggeration, but regardless, your comment fails to provide any input into the discussion.

Conrose:

Thief's Blade + Offhand Frill of some sort would beat either of those.

The two axes I mentioned can receive 25 agility, so stats for them are:

31 Agility, 3 Stamina

30 Agility, 5 Stamina

33 Agility

For Theif's with 15 Agility (most of 1H) + Offhand the stats are:

22 Agility, 10 Stamina (Furbolg Medicine Pouch - Item - World of Warcraft)

25 Agility, 3 Spirit (Ritual Stein - Item - World of Warcraft or Ritual Stein - Item - World of Warcraft of the wolf)

Blizzard does add new things when they release new expansions, but how many new items do you think the new leveling zones will introduce. The Draenei starting place introduced a crossbow with agility and stamina. The Bloodelf starting place (via Tranquillen) added some items worth getting, Crit Ring, Stamina Dagger and Stamina Cloak. None of those items were dramatic improvements over existing gear. The crossbow was not an improvement over Throat Piercers for Rogues nor was it better than Thick Bronze Darts for Warriors. The Crit Ring is easily replaced with any of the other available rings. The dagger had 1 more stamina than nightwatch swortsword, it had 2 more stamina than facesmasher. The cloak had 1 more stamina than miner's cloak. All in all the differences were not very drastic. The only thing new thing I could see that would present a drastic change would be the introduction dual wielding at 19 for hunters or new BoA weapons that were intended for hunters to use.

go do some research on cataclysm.

We will know more when Blizzard starts the bèta test, until then this is pure speculation. The current items might still be viable through reforging, we'll just have to wait and see.

@OP - I understand where you are coming from ... but it's not like Blizzard is adding 1 new starting zone for us to quest in. All of azeroth is being revamped due to the destructive forces that is Deathwing. Take a look at the new level-zone for all of the current zones. Cataclysm Guide: A Brand New World - Wowhead. As you can see - all of the zones are having their levels changed. Which means the quests are going to change with them, unless Blizzard just drops the level of all the mobs and quests (which I wouldn't put past them ... but I would be sorely disappointed if they did)

There will be HUNDREDS of new quests, not just 10. And with the new stat changes, as Kore said, we might find a lot of old weapons and gear becoming useful again.

Consider this for a moment...

Step 1: Shaman

Step 2: BAR or Glacial Stone

Step 3: Ghost Wolf

Step 4: Primal Strike

Step 5: Very Bad Things Happen to the Hunter.

I'm going with the Extra Stamina in that sorta world unless Raptor Strike is made into an instant attack for weapon damage.

i think the grand staff of jordan with 25 agi will be BiS unless something more beneficial is introduced in the months leading upto cataclysm's release. this item would also be viable with a iron counterweight or whatever gives the 20% haste rating. with reforging also the BAR maybe even more useful. but the staff will help peoplee to get hit capped without using items such as simple pearl ring and spidersilk drape. then you can use other items with higher stats like the seal of wrynn (until cataclysm) and 5 agi meadow rings, and bandit cloaks etc. just a thought... XD

I don't think cataclysm leveling items will be that much stronger than current BIS twink items. but on the other hand the new belts an capes introduced through the dungeon system are better than the previous capes.

You can only put counterweight on 2h swords, maces and axes. Pity really, i'd love to have a counterweighted staff on my druid.

In my opinion

BaR +25 agi

or

GSoJ +25 agi
