Survey for refining Classic Cataclysm were sent out to some players yesterday, basically confirming the continuity of expansions.

Wotlkc isn't even released and they're already putting a bad taste in our mouths.

To those who don't know what this represents, Cataclysm is basically like removing Naxx40 to 60 twinks but to all lower level twinks. The Shattering brings the removal of A LOT of BiS items gathered from quests. So Cataclysm despite bringing some good (OP specs/talents at low level pvp, insane Explosive shot dmg for hunters), was actually very bad to the twink community as it created a dichotomy between gfd vs non-gfd twinks.

Would love to hear your thoughts

Tldr Cataclysm potentially confirmed; huge grandfathering of low lvl twink items coming.

I hope to the gods they get such a bad response in that survey that they scrap the idea altogether
I don't think I'll be playing anything beyond wotlk classic
Yeah I was reallllllly disappointed seeing that this morning. To me Cata was the beginning of the downfall/epicness of the WoW franchise. That's when they became a joke lol...

The only good that can come out of this is if they leave some WOTLKc servers behind, unlike what they did with TBC.

Personally aslong as some changes are implemented I think the game is fine for classic editions of cata/mop, Im fine if they stop at wotlk aswell. I would love to see improved cata / mop, then come out with a Classic+ instead of WoD as the premise was literally alternate reality and the beginning of the uber hero of the world narrative they were giving the characters. I would love to see a more grounded and complete world filled with the vanilla - mop class/race combos. a larger world that can be tweaked and customized for a new wow experience, Complete old scrapped raids, etc. Im hoping that they take the success and knowledge they learn from rebuilding the talents in dragonflight to give us a more interesting classic+ experience

I love that in the WoWhead screenshots for the survey, the sample best feature of Cata was transmog, and sample worst feature was Raid Finder. WoWhead knows what's up.

Cata brought one of the most important backend changes to WoW, the merging of battlegroups for instanced PvP. That change is wholly irrelevant for a potential Classic Cata, as that's already part of the Classic infrastructure.

Throwing some of the QOL changes from cata into a “wrath+” would be a good call, honestly

Exactly. I'm glad they are asking about specific features, so they can take what's good and remove the rest.

They NEED to keep the expansions going. WOTLK forever is unsustainable. Cata was the beginning of the WoW subscription decline and it seems they are aware it cannot be released in its original form or they will meet the same fate.

yuss

agreed but I wonder how they do that without introducing all the things that caused the great decline.

Introduce the content with none of the bullshit, I guess?

WOTLK forever is unsustainable.
Adding new content, items, dungeons, bg's will keep the hardcore WotLK fans (old farts like us) but they won't be enough to keep hype in the mainstream. If they'll continue to release expansions as Classic, I believe this won't change anything. Pandaria Classic, WoD Classic sounds like a joke...
