Cataclysm Class Preview: Paladin

Sorry i was a wee bit late, here it is http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=24261189717&sid=1

- Sader strike at lvl 1, more burst and stuffs. Theyre going to hurt like bitches since their burst is set to increase by a very large percentage.

- Looks like paladins wont be getting a defensive dispell since only cleanse gets this and at our level paladins only have purify.

- BoM and BoW are merged.

-Holy Light looks likely to have its efficiency increased.

- Spirit will be sweet for those holy paladins.

Holy Paladins get Meditation, better healing and better critical heals

Prots get Dmg reduction, Vengeance and Increased blocking value

Vengeance: This is a mechanic to ensure that tank damage (and therefore threat) doesn't fall behind as damage-dealing classes improve their gear during the course of the expansion. All tanking specs will have Vengeance as their second talent tree passive bonus. Whenever a tank gets hit, Vengeance will give them a stacking attack power buff equal to 5% of the damage done, up to a maximum of 10% of the character's un-buffed health. For boss encounters, we expect that tanks will always have the attack power bonus equal to 10% of their health. The 5% and 10% bonuses assume 51 talent points have been put into the Protection tree. These values will be smaller at lower levels. Remember, you only get this bonus if you have spent the most talent points in the Protection tree, so you won't see Arms or Fury warriors running around with it. Vengeance will let us continue to make tank gear more or less the way we do today – there will be some damage-dealing stats, but mostly survival-oriented stats. Druids typically have more damage-dealing stats even on their tanking gear, so their Vengeance benefit may be smaller, but overall the goal is for all four tanks do about the same damage when tanking.

Rets get melee damage, melee crits and holy damage increased.

We won't be getting a 5%/10% damage boost at level 19. Probably be lucky if its even as high as 2%.

10% of the average 19 warrior/druid/paladins health would equal a whopping amount of free ap. You could be looking at 200+ in FC gear, 100-150 odd in regular gear, for free. (it wouldnt stack instantly to that level, but would eventually reach that, and probably within only a few hits).

Thats equal to a permanent crusader buff.

% will be lower at lower levels but even if it is 2% that's still a free 22-30 free AP which i think is a lot.

It's up now:

Paladin Changes

Welcome the new FoTM class. Moar burst, Crusader strike + Holy shock for all. Wtf!

Edit: Oh wait.. Holy shock will be a heal only it seems. Peew.

also it might not be at level 19 (holy shock) as it just says "available to all"; meaning all specs, not all paladins ever.

Im sure Holy shock wont be at 19, but they might get Flash of light.

But for Ret's it should be good times with an extra attack. Ret already had strong burst, pretty much the nail in the coffin for rogues anyway.

Flash of light also doubtful, it probably would have been mentioned. Remeber they're trying to alleviate levelling problems, not just give classes more abilities earlier for the sake of it.

Crusader strike is going to be awesome, so much burst. I'm going to change to a tauren paladin, 1 possible attack sequence: Autoattack +seal damage, judgement+seal damage, crusader strike +seal damage, stun, stun Repeat attack sequence switching crusader strike, and judgment (judgment cd 10sec)...dead.

No.

We want to add to the Holy tree a nice big heal to correspond with Greater Heal

You really think they'll add a "1 talent point" heal to anything below level 20? Not seen it yet, and doubt it. All the talents here is 2+ or higher.

- Devine shield might lose a few seconds up time.

We don't have Divine Shield at level 19. Only Divine Protection.

Will the Attack Power from the new spell, stack with the Warriors Battle Shout?

Doubtful, since they dont now, whichever is higher will take precedent. However, since it now has both effects it shouldnt get over-written.
