caster ring choices

Heh, my lock is turning out to be more difficult to outfit than my shaman and warrior... so many items that are almost equal per slot. Rings, for example...

The cyclopean band is nice for its hit rating.

Freezing band is very nice +spell dam and a blessing when it procs on melee attacking you.

Does anyone know if freezing band procs regularly? And does wearing two seem to double the odds?

Which would you recommend for a 49 affl lock? I don't mind if I'm missing 6 spell power if in return I get some hit and stamina...

double freezing band- i had a mate i used to play with who had that when i was still using my 49pally twink: was a mage though and was pretty spell power maxed out. he did loads of damage but had a bit of survival issues here and there, especially when a large group of players started to attack him. nonethless i very explicitly remember him telling me that the proc was rare (despite him having two) and nothing to count on. it COULD save your life but a bit of stamina could go a little bit further.

personally cyclopean band looks balanced and a solid choice.

I can't access Wowhead from work, but doesn't the Freezing Band say it has a 1% proc rate? Wearing two would then give you a 2% chance upon being stuck to freeze the attacker. By no means would I consider 2% to be regular. Quite rare. Granted there will be times when it seems to proc a lot, there will also be times where it seems it never procs.

I personally go with Cyclopean Band and... something else. You can check my armory, I guess. The +hit is such a superb stat. Mix in a little stam and spell power and you have a pretty sexy ring. It's the #1 choice in the bracket, imo.

You've got quite a few choices here.

I actually aim for about 3.5k health on my lock (I'm SL/SL), and I can't quite reach that mark with those two rings. When I was full affliction, I used them and the proc was nice coupled with 411 spellpower burning my targets down.

It's totally a judgement call imo. Ideally I'd probably run with Cyclopean band and Gem-studded. Mindseye circle isn't a bad ring if you're looking for stats either.

Deadmans Hand (10 stam) , switched out with Gem Studded Band and Underworld Band.

Anything else would be shite....and why on earth would you use a Freezing Band w/ 10 frost resist over the 10 stam on the deadmans Hand which does virtually the same thing, except it has good stats and procs off everything... ranged or melee. Also... the Deadmans Hand procs a lot it seems.

It wont give you a 2% chance to proc it will be a 1% + 1% chance to proc, the % doesnt go up as you add another, they act independantly and it will remain 1%.

I still <3 you Popo!!!!!!

1% chance + 1% chance = ~2%

it's not 2%, but it's very VERY close to it. don't ask me why, i have no idea how the math goes, i just understand it

here's a thought, DMH + green whelp armor + freezing band :D

Here is the short and sweet of it all......

If you want me to seriously sit down and explain why I can just let me know..

Cyclopian band = Destruction spec not afflic. (You don't need it for hit if your specced affliction as you have affliction talents + banthoks should put you at hit cap or close to it so dont' bother unless your destro.)

Freezingbands = bad choice. They only proc off melee damage and fact is stam is greater than spell damage.

Eye of oggrimmar = useless..... intell is not a stat an afflic lock needs to spec for... with so many superior choices for afflic lock rings it shouldn't even be a consideration.

Dead mans hand = Awesome for switching out depending on enemy comp make up. 10 stam and same proc chance as freezing band = AMAZING. It is superior to freezing band because ALL damage sources can proc the ring not just melee... so spell and ranged attacks and 100 health > 18 spell power

Gem studded and Underworld bands or 2 underworld bands are the 2 best ring choices to wear as affliction spec for balanced stam and spell power.

I switch out gem studded for dead mans when I know I am going to be focus assisted down or I am being focused more than usual or flag running.

So for every day nuking... 2 underworld bands or 1 Under world 1 gem studded, and switch genm studded with dead mans when needed as affliction.
