Brushing the Dust off my Twink. Need some advice

Greetings!



I am just now dusting off my 19 hunter again. I leveled my main on Bloodscalp, and in my downtime from raiding in TBC, built my twink. When I moved servers about a year ago to join a new guild, I just couldn't justify spending the cash to move my twink.



Well, with raiding on a slow down right now, I've dusted him off and getting back into it.



Can someone give me a couple of answers real quick?



1.) Would you use the PVP heirloom shoudlers if you had access to them? I currently don't have access to them, but I'm thinking about xferring the hunter over to get them from my main.



2.) Would you use the Heirloom bow? I have this and the pvp shoulders purchased already. Currently I'm using Venomstrike, and from time to time I've even busted out a Light Hunting Bow when I'm OOM and want to fire quickly.



3.) Why does everyone swear by feet of the lynx? I've never understood why the 2 agi was valued higher than the 6 stam you get from going with the boots of the fang.



4.) How long should I expect it to take me to get the hat + boots from fishing? I don't think I would wear them all the time, but lately, I've been the flag carrier, and I'm sure that it would be of benefit to pick up 150 HP on the fly.

1) BoA shoulders are best in slot, so i would use them.

2) Venomstrike beats BoA bow.

3) I would use Footpads of the Fang also, i agree that 6 stam is better than 2 agi.

4) Boots require lvl 35 now, so they are unavailable. I would say u should use ur 2 hrs every sunday to get the hat, as it is best in slot. no doubt.

level a new hunter. Gearing for twinking takes no time anymore. Save your money.



1.) I would use heirloom shadowcraft shoulders for the hit rating.



2.) Depends. I would use BoA gun actually (my hunter is dwarf) but I like bows alot better so I do use venomstrike sometimes Bows look so cool. I think there's a thread on it here somewhere (BoA vs. venomstrike)



3.) No one does that? Feat of lynx is fine if you dont wanna farm for fang, but fang boots are much better.



4.) Dunno about fishing. I've never won one myself Thats just my luck. But I wish you good luck on that. (You'll need it)

Respec and go for an intellect build if you haven't done so already, it's the best build atm.

1) Yes, but the PvE ones are far better.

2) No.

3) Everyone doesn't.

4) 3 to 14 weeks. I've done it on four twinks. You will be quite disappointed when you get the boots.

Ok here ya go:



1. Yes the shoulders are best in slot.

2. I prefer venomstike but either will work.

3. Fang...fang.

4. Boots are gone for 19s, hat can get first cast or wait weeks, we have all had both happen. I have got hat in 20 mins first time on a toon and on another waited 6 tries, I freeked out every Sunday.

5. Also Spiders are pwn right now.

6. Take careful aim.

I have a spider, but I never really use him. I'm really stuck on my ravager. It might be because of all the work I did to get him. I started walking, and once I crossed into Ashenvale a very gracious gnome rogue gutted me. I was able to walk the rest of the way dead, Rez and get the ravager and hearth.



I will work on the hat once I can shut off XP. I spent a lot of time trying to get the bow and the cloak, and I only have 3 blocks left.

it should not give any xp except from exploration to get the hat, but it should not push u into lvl 20. anyway if u get worried with ur xp u should just wait till patch 3.2 and turn off xp

First off, a couple people have told you that the PvP BoA shoulders are best in slot. Those people are wrong. The PvE BoA shoulders are better. The resilience doesn't do enough for us.



Secondly, I can tell you exactly why you see a lot of hunters with Lynx boots.

-Lynx were 2nd best-in-slot prior to patch 2.3, only the fishing boots were better. Fang were crappy green boots.

-Old school hunters bought Lynx to use until they could fish up Nat's.

-They got Nat's but kept Lynx in their bank for "max Agility" builds.

-Pets changed, xp was spent leveling up new pets since boars went from hero to zero overnight.

-Professions changed and gave MASSIVE buffs when gathering was uncapped. More xp was spent getting 450.

-Finally, 3.1 doesn't just "nerf" the fishing boots, it completely obliterates them slapping a level 35 requirement on them.

-Hunter is left with two options: go out into the world, risking XP to get Fang out of WC, or just easily slipping their Lynx out of the bank. Guess which one they chose?



Of course you *can* get the boots with zero xp. But if your escort doesn't completely understand your position, he can absent-mindely tab target a mob and boom. Even if he does understand the sensitivity of it, the time involved is fairly extensive in having to die, kill serpentis, rezz, try again, and again, and again. Since Lynx do have an edge in agility, these lazy* twinks kept putting off getting Fang.



Now that they see they can just wait until 3.2, turn off xp, and get the boots easily, they are definitly sticking with Lynx for the time being.



P.S. Yes, I am one of the lazy twinks. Come'on 3.2, I want my Fang boots!

Some might argue that the PvE Rogue shoulders are 2nd BiS due to hit rating, but there are other ways to cap hit (better ways come 3.2), so I'd probably say they are tied for 2nd BiS.



No shame in having the PvP BoAs. It's just that you would want the PvE ones if it was a choice. You said that raiding was on a slow down. Some people that quit raiding have 500+ Badges of Heroism sitting around.

I see your point but that poison is still ranged and has a short cd.

First off hunters don't use offhands...get a chanters with 25 agi. Second off get minor speed increase to boots. Lastly...your belt, gloves, and legs need to be changed. For the belt go deviate scale belt, for the legs get leggings of the fang, and for the gloves get scouting gloves of the eagle. You could arguably get 3/3 wranglers for wrist, but thats rare and it all comes down to 2 agi or 3 stam.
