Poseidus can drop the mount but you cant learn it at level 20. Darkmoon rabbit can drop and its learnable at 20.

You can get loot through bonus rolls, but I’ve not been able to confirm a mount drop yet, only done around 100 bonus rolls since the drop chance change. I need to get back to doing it.
Also, you can check my shaman’s armory in signature if you want a list of obtainable mounts, a few are exploited and no longer obtainable, but I think you will figure out which those are

What exactly is a bonus roll? how does it differ from the regular roll?

You spend a currency that allows you to have a chance for extra loot.
If you have https://www.wowhead.com/currency=752/mogu-rune-of-fate while killing Oondasta, a small window will pop up that is asking if you want to bonus roll. From that there is a chance you get an item.
You can get https://www.wowhead.com/currency=752/mogu-rune-of-fate from a vendor on timeless isle, costs 1000 timless coins.

I'm super curious how you got couple of them
- Mawsworn Soulhunter - need to get a warlock summon to the Maw right?
- garrison invasion mounts - you got them in friends level 3 garrison?
- Great Sea Ray - you don't have it so unobtainable or just didn't bother?

There's a set of mounts that, while profession based and not drop based, are still incredibly RNG heavy.
Going by WoWDB and Wowhead, Orbs of Mystery (normally 20k a pop, and therefore out of reach for F2Ps without P2P assistance) very rarely drop from Blingtron packages. This makes the jewelcrafting mounts (Jade, Sunstone, Sapphire, Ruby, and Jeweled Onyx) theoretically obtainable for F2P players, though with a total of eight Orbs needed at a 0.007% drop rate (best rate, from the Blingtron 5000 packages) it'd be insanely lucky to even get one.

Warlock summon and then party sync with a friend that has Chromie Time, planned to do this for a while with 24 alts that I had already summoned, got it on like the 7th kill or something.
Yep, just need to visit a friends garrison while they do it, mobs / boss scales down.
I’m at like 16k attempts, @Cristi claims to be at 30k+,and someone on wowhead said he got an error saying that you cannot loot the mount on a F2P char while fishing. So I don’t think it’s possible. I normally don’t put a lot of trust in random wowhead comments, but since no f2p has gotten it yet, I doubt it’s possible.

I was super lucky back in BFA and managed to get the Kyparium Rocket.

"Rare mounts" refers to mounts that have a chance to drop daily/weekly, usually from rare mobs or world bosses. It has nothing to do with RNG in this context. They just didn't want people exploiting class trials to farm mounts

Are people farming island expeditions?
Atm I'm expecting this gonna keep me occupied for quite a number of incoming weeks and monthes, hopefully not years.
But it's great to switch from running all the same dungeons for a superugrade chance.
Only running low of free bank space with all that unusable xmogs and excessive pets.

If you are gonna farm Islands, do it as a horde, since you will have access to the vendors.

ngl this makes me really sad because i need the rep on my (alliance) main so i'll probably end up doing it on two toons (eventually) feelsbadman.
Then again, with the fuckery of RNG it's hard to say which one will complete first - rep or dropped collectibles.
