this (and other sub-60 dung epics) might be more difficult to farm in prepatch, due to legacy loot settings. with personal loot prior to patch, they would be counted as normal drops on boss' loot table, meaning you would of course just be assigned one at random (% of drop chance didn't vary between drops, even if epic). for some bosses, like the final one in ubrs (with just trinket + epic ring on loot table as rogue), this meant you would often get the desired epics in a mere 2-3 runs.
not sure if that's still the case in prepatch, as loot is just fucking odd right now (from what i've seen off raid farming, less so for dungeons). if lfg has guaranteed personal loot, that could be worth queueing for the dagger (as being grouped w/ a 110 or could well mess it up, via expanded loot table for legacy loot settings).
i haven't actually tested this in prepatch dungeons, so don't take my word for it. but if you need to wait for a 110 vs just queueing yourself, lfg isn't at all a bad move, assuming that the epic drops are still ridiculously common.

The 110 gets a level 60 drop and i get a drop for my level (39) Ive done like 4 runs and the 110 got the dagger twice in a row, so i'm guessing it's still pretty common.
