start at TW changes, appears they will target gems enchants gear, with bosses scaling to individual player
i presume the bosses will scale different to non tanks in groups, which may casue issues when a fury comes in as a tank. i can see complaints if low level tanks become worthless causing wipes
there was TW twinking before done by higher levels using sets of older max socket gear, blizz did mostly stealth nerfs as it was not a glaring issue for them like what started in TWW expac.
Has anyone tried the changes on 11.1.7 PTR? How bad is it?
The real problem here is that scaling has been broken since, well, forever. Basically you start out strong and get slowly weaker as you level. And then you get gear to get stronger at max level.
Before content scaling, nobody really noticed because it didn't matter. Like you go and quest in Northern STV in Classic at 30 and you have to be careful. Go back at 40 and you slaughter things. You're weaker against level 40 mobs than you were against level 30 mobs at level 30 but you have no real basis for comparison for that.
But now? It's so obvious because the content scales and there's really no reward for levelling. Instead you're punished. This was even more apparent in MoP Remix. Level 10-40? Fun. 60-70? Sucks. It's why people found the mailbox XP token trick to avoid the sucky levels. And you needed quite a few gear upgrades at 70 before you got good again.
It's my biggest fear with the upcoming Legion Remix that Blizzard "fixes" the XP token thing and you have a huge sucky period in the middle of you journey.
Anyway, many (myself included) warned Blizzard that adding low levels to TW dungeons would be incredibly broken. They ignored it. The game simply isn't designed for level 10s and 79s to be in the same group. That 79 is simply a waste of space. This change also killed the TW gearing community for literally no reason.
I don't want a TW dungeon that takes me 25 minutes to do. I just won't do it. Like at all. And they upped the TW badge rewards from 10 to 25? Who cares? I'll do regular dungeons instead. And I think I won't be the only one. TW dungeons were never optimal for levelling anyway.
As for badges, another bad change was the weekly only giving 200 badges instead of 500 for the 2nd and subsequent character to do it on the same bnet account. It didn't affect me. I had like 400k TW badges already (although I'm down to ~150k with all the cosmetics they added). I'd hate to save up for that now.
Just like the scaling hotfix on Dastardly Duos (which, as an aside, seems to be the most pointless event ever), fun was detected. And then nerfed.
I'm messing around with twinks for fun. Retail is just a Legion Remix waiting room for me. If twinks suck and TW sucks, I'll just either not play or not buy Midnight and just farm old achievements and cosmetics.
Anyway, I'm absolutely they are going to mess up the anti-twink scaling up. I haven't looked but I'm guessing there'll be a lot of one-shots. We may find the meta shifts so you either don't use enchants anymore and/or you use TW gear instead of socketed gear. It's a bit like how in MoP Remix, you could make the game significantly easier by deleting your jewelry.
And let's not forget that twinks were at least in part a response to how terrible 71-79 felt to level. If you played week 2 of TWW, it was so much worse than DF.
Or the meta will become level 70 twinks, which are arguably the meta already but harder to create than 10-11 twinks. And also temporary. The 70 twinks will be gone with the Midnight release.
