BiS Boas for Combat Rogue

Rhaellia

Has Been
I'm thinking of making another rogue on AP this time and Combat sounds like it would be super fun in premades. It's for the fun factor, you know a game being fun :D So, none of that go Subtlety crap D:< Ideas or gtfo, door is thataway!

mindy had everything correct, except the shoulders. you should get the pve ones.

as combat you should be taking the extra hit whenever possible.

out of curiosity, why is the hit more important as combat?

Is one crit worth 2 haste? o_O

I are newb but two haste sounds better then the one extra crit. Besides, I want two face smashing maces >D

although no one will agree with me and will argue with me
combat is actually a better counter against feral druids than sub rogues or assassin
but only with boa 2maces because you get insane energy regen with all those haste plus 30% from combat spec AND with reduced energy cost on sinister strikes. you take less damage when you have recuperate active.
You will last longer than sub rogues when facing feral druids.
As a feral druid, killing a sub rogue is piece of cake. i dont even need thorns (beside no good sub rogues will hit a druid that has thorns active. either sprint or shadowmeld for NE and reopen)
but when i face combat rogues, i actually have to kite them to beat them... you dont have to but when you face 1v1 (bear form with rejuv active (no thorns) vs combat rogue with Recup active) feral will lose or be really close to death.
good luck and have fun with combat. Everyone (including me) thought that combat is just a shitty spec and it is overall compared to sub but combat does have some advantages in some situations (beside it doing more dps than sub (dungoens)

As combat rogue, your offhand does 75% more damage, but having a slow weapon doesn't change anything, sinister strike is done with the main hand. A fast offhand is better, you'll apply more poison.

and sub rogues with a slow mainhand sounds really dumb, using SS instead of BS, lol. Just do the math.

If a sub rogue catches you with an ambush, you are going to die as feral.

wouldn't it be better to use fast offhand?
Pretty sure Doomspike is the only good fast off-hand at this level, the rest either have low damage or have no stats.

Also, since most rogues use crippling poison in this bracket wouldn't faster poison application be useless? Where's if you used instant poison it would do more, right? I mean crippling is either on or it's off.

Maybe slow main-hand (crippling), fast off-hand (instant) maybe get someone with Doomspike to try this out...

*coughshftcough*

Meh I probably don't know what I'm talkin' about .___.;

the pvp dagger is 1.5 speed. it's the second best after doomspike as offhand (the one from blackfathom deep http://www.wowhead.com/?item=6904 is pretty good, but the poison mess with gouge).

i'm only putting cripling poison on my main hand, you don't really it 2x and loose a lot of dps, put instant poison on your fast offhand, it's really usefull against heavy armored classes.

i don't see the point to put 2x cripling poison as sub, you still have your sprint & shadow step (which also gives you an extra speedboost). also http://www.wowhead.com/spell=2335

Night elves and Tauren make crippling resist a real problem. If you miss crippling, it's often game over versus hunters, as you need shadow step for disengage. Double crip also makes your peels quicker. The lack of mobility it's what kills many classes in the bracket, so crippling that twice as fast is your top priority.

A horde rogue definitely needs both PvE chest and PvE shoulder (or the Hero shoulder, -3agi +2sta) in order to hitcap against 20s.

If your rogue is going to be Alliance I'd take the PvP shoulders over the PvE ones, since Ello's + Skillpatch already hitcaps you vs 20s. As a lower priority, you'd want to eventually pick up the PvE shoulders to switch in against 24s.

It's also important to get the birdshoulders for transmog.
