Best counter for a lolRet...

I was going to lvl my prot warrior to 69 and he made such easy work of my friends 70 prot warrior I was disgusted. Is there a counter for ret/dk?

Another lolRet?

Seriously Ret is top of the food chain in this bracket. Unless you have solid teamwork they can be difficult to take down.

I've stopped trying to 1v1 them all together.

Any class that can actually do something in a stun has a chance, still not very high of a chance though. And they then have to completely outplay the noskill ret.

Humans have more of a chance because of 2minute pvp trinket and possibly an extra 85stam from the engineering trinket or more damage or whatever.

Everyone else will die in the stun and if they can trinket it the paladin can just bubble.

Ya, in my experience, only a stam stacked blood DK has an advantage over ret 1v1. My DK pretty much always beats em. It takes a lot of skill, and sometimes luck, to beat ret with any other class. My ret burst damage is ridiculous. I can kill a plate wearer with 12k life in about 7-10 sec. So I named my pally accordingly: [char=us-Smolderthorn]Sofakingop[/char]

What's a ret pally?

Oh right, those things that get silenced on their first stun, then do zero dmg (practically, not literally) when I pop IBF.

Pally nerfs will be inc soon I'm guessing though.

That's the key to beating a pally, lots of health and healing ability. Survive the stun no prob trinket or not, rune tap, hit em a few times, pop IBF and maybe make a minion and sacrifice for 40% heal (6500hp for me unbuffed), and/or use mark of blood for a full heal overtime. A good pally will dispell that one. Pally dead, eventually. Popping IBF at the start makes it easy for no stuns, but you need runic power for that. Vampiric blood at the start of the fight brings me to 19k hp so the initial stun and hits don't do much to me. I like to wait for full runic power and ready runes, and have them around half hp, then pop dancing rune weapon and burst em down in a few seconds, and anybody standing next to them for that matter.

DK is the only thing thats gonna reliably take out a well played ret twink. Not much else stands a chance; Elem shammy or Frost mage are probably up there on the list.

As for someone who mentioned shadow priest; NO. Not gonna happen, ever, against a good ret. When they can dispell all of your debuffs, about the only thing you can do is MB and MF, and both dont hit as hard as they would against a debuffed target. All you do is not die quite as fast as anything else.

Most really well twinked healers can live through a ret, pretty much forever. I can stand still and outheal a rets dps as either holy or disc; As long as Ive specced and glyphed Inner Fire, that is.

I actually can beat them as a shadow priest if I have every cd up, like I said it goes in their favor more than mine but its doable. You have to time your burst after a hoj while they are silenced, I usually go vt(they get damaged when its dispeled), mindflay mindflay, horror then dp and swp and then silence and burst. My priest can dish out about 10 damage pretty quickly if I get a few crits, problem is you have to have disperse up or you die in the hoj.

Bubbles. If we assume you have CDs, you have to assume they do.

If everythings in my favour (Im ambe to grab zerking, maybe, lol) I could beat the average ret twink. But a well played one? Simply not happening.

I suppose playing with spell pen to cloak could have helped. /facepalm

Scenario..

Pally rides towards me, I ride towards him, the second he's in range, BAM, strangulate as he reps you, you're stunned, he's unable to unload cds, stun wears off, pop IBF and become immune to the rest of his stun crutch, profit.

ED: meant to quote Alks post from the bottom of page 1.

Can't he bubble out of ur strangulate? Even if he doesn't, I also don't see u killing him in that time so ur IBF wears off and he's @ 50% and u're @ 80%. What's next?

Bubbling strangulate would require common sense though, and idk if they can or not, I personally have never seen one do it, but if you knew how terrible my battlegroup was you'd understand.

To give you more insight on how bad it is, in all my time on it, I've only seen one person ever actually fake cast and that was just yesterday.

Back to the discussion though, once IBF wears off he'll have used most of his cds, I pretty much just sit back (with my trinket ready), use my normal attacks which heal me, and watch him/her try to chew through my health, in the unlikely chance I get low on life, I have Rune Tap, talented for Imp RT, talented and glyphed for Imp DS, can also summon and sac a minion, so yeah pallies aren't really to much of a problem for me.

Idk, maybe I'm just playing Vs. really twinked out bads.
