Lets say you have stopcast on all your abilities

why would having a focus modifier on individual abilities be better then a global focus modifier

First of all, I do not know what a "global focus modifier" is. The way I have my macros set up has worked for me 100% of the time. If you want to do your macro set up some other way then that is fine. If you are asking me why I just do not have a "cancel spell key" and a "shift, ctrl or alt key" made for casting on my focus target then my awnser would be: because I like the way I have my macros set up. Finished.

basically having to readjust your muscle memory would be the most difficult part of changing to a focus modifier IMO as a lot of binds would conflict with the modifier.

why on earth is PIZZA observing this thread? perhaps the apprentice (beau) is teaching the old dog a few tricks~!

no i dont think you understand

lets say all of your abilities have a stopcast macro assigned to them already- whats the difference between using the global focus modifier (i.e. the focus key-lets say shift) as opposed to using an individual shift modifier in every macro

There really isn't a reason, but I mentioned that there is a function in your interface section that allows you to set up a global focus modifier. I'v been doing it this way [forever] so its not like it matters.

ah ok, thanks xD

Let's say alt is your global focus modifier

Let's say you're trying to condense keybinds using modifiers

i.e.

#show

/cast [nomod] sprint

/cast [mod:shift] lifeblood

/cast [mod:ctrl] evasion

/use [mod:alt] healing potion

the alt modifier won't work because it's already bound to global focus cast.

I find it much easier to just write focus cast into the macro as Beau showed, that way I avoid any unexpected macro failures when I rewrite them.
