Battleworn thrash blade, Best DPS weapon for f2p?

Domunique

Legend
Hey guys, I am an f2p rogue :), and I just purchased a "Battleworn thrash blade"

I Was just thinking that even though its the worst stated wep, is it the best dps wep for a rogue? does its extra swing proc enough (whats its % rate), and 'IF' I apply instant poison on it in the main hand, will its extra swing give it another chance to apply poison on the target?

Also is this weapon useful as putting it in the offhand? Does its extra swing mean it gives a main hand extra swing or a extra swing from this specific weapon? I don't really care if this sword isn't as well stated as "venerable mass gowen" or "doomspike" ect, if it is a max dps wep though I would like to know.... if it is or it isn't worth it then also let me know :).

Also do these extra swings have the possibility to apply poisons and critical strike like any other ordinary strike?

I mean ive only done two bgs with this weapon as my main-hand, and im really impressed. I put it in my main-hand with instant poison and put my dagger "balanced heart seeker" (1.70 speed) with crippling poison in the offhand. And I must say its been procing at the right times, I see damage digits flying everywhere, my posions and extra swings are applying, it feels good when an extra swing applys after a ambush its like ooooo shit. But I know this is entirely luck based because its swing rate is a % chance.

And also, when MoP comes out, rogues can use slice and dice, will the extra swing % chance be more effective by using slice and dice to swing more, or does this extra proc damage not respond to that speed buff?

This is an important question for all offensive rogues trying to max their DPS, anyway thankyou to those who read this :) its appreciated

peace.

No, weapon speed ruins proc/PPS. I have a more detailed explanation as to why in an older post.

Also, you'll never maximize your DPS with swords as a rogue in this bracket, even though that is true for 19's. You should check out Sekcmusard's rogue guide , he ran numbers for daggers/swords.

Daggers and Swords: Both daggers and swords can be better choices in different situations. For example, using swords can allow you to keep an attacking rogue in front of you (in a duel, a good dagger rogue will beat a good sword rogue though) and prevent his backstabs and using daggers can allow you to help keep applying crippling poison to a powershifting druid [remember powershifting removes crippling poison]. For a long time I believed swords were a better decision but after finally doing a test on monsters to determine the amount of damage per energy, I found daggers were much better. Keep in mind that swords can be useful in other situations (like when you need quick combo points to heal off a noob and other reasons explained later) For this reason if I’m general killing I now use daggers. I also keep my daggers double crippled because in far too many situations, applying crippling poison determines life or death. PS – I refer to my Venerable Mass of McGowan as a ‘sword’ in the guide and yes I know it’s a mace, get over it!! I know people will doubt me so I’ve posted my tested reasoning for sword vs dagger dps below.

My DPS Testing:
All damage was done against a lvl 60 training dummy in Stormwind. Keep in mind that I didn’t include poisons (Im usually running double cripp anyways) but did make sure to include the same number of crits and non-crits in my averages.

Daggers:
Backstab – 57.6 average hit
Ambush – 115.8 average hit
5 pt Eviscerate – 111.5 average hit

Swords:
Sinister Strike – 24.9 average hit
Ambush – 111.5 average hit
5 pt Eviscerate – 110.6 average hit

Data was concluded using BiS gear.

Interesting.

It's definately worth testing!
At least i can tell you - back in the day during BC i topped Damage Meters as a rogue with Blinkstrike even in Black Temple (Probably the most underrated item ever).
I think the obvious synergy with SnD and sword spec led to this.

But we get SnD back when MoP hits :)

By the way - never use a Offhand Weapon which is slower than 1.5 for PvP. No excuses.

the proc rate is total bullshit... I was duel testing and i didnt get a single proc when auto attacking a rogue with .1.6k hp...

haryl, the ONLY REASON im not a twin-dagger rogue or dagger in main hand rogue is because my backstabs just dont happen, well they do but I lag heaps so its an unreliable fighting style for my shitty internet connection, I also never seem to have enough energy to "gouge" an opponent because my backstabs cost 50% more energy then my sinister strikes, And I refuse to keep high energy stacking, espec if im stunned then im just energy topped for like 6 seconds when I could of used that energy, got stunned and regen energy by the time I was out of it.

I say backstab style is good, in dungeons when your enemies arnt facing you OR if you have a fast computer and can do it without the face-ing disadvantage and finding it difficult to be behind them.

SO yeh my dps is just fine with a 'dal'rends sacred charge" with instant poison in the main hand and balanced heartseeker in the off hand with crippling poison. I seem to do good dps with that, I just thought that with this "BATTLEWORN THRASH BLADE" I would do more dps then usual.

ima enchant this and try test it to make sure, when it procs after an ambush its epic also when it procs whilst a healer is on low health and tryna heal, if this extra swing could apply instant poison or have a chance of crit striking I might play it for fun here and there when vsing a team we are easily beating or something like that.

procs make me happy :)

I never said Swords wasn't viable. I just said that unless you dual daggers you won't do top DPS. All I did was answer your question. As for everything else I could really care less.

I like to use swords more than daggers om my rogue because I can transmog them into cutlasses and I look like a pirate!
