Bank changes coming in 11.2.0. Unlock your void storage before then.

You need 311g 10s to unlock all storage from nothing. 111g 10s for the bank bag slots, 100 for the reagent tab and 100 for void storage. That is all you need to unlock all six bank tabs after the update. The total cost afterwards will be 9101g for them if you aren't a max level.

If you are broke, Parry's suggestion to turn on LW and go get Pandaria treasures will work fine.
this is gonna sound cheap but when you have 60 toons, 200g extra per toon adds up. :p currently installing the ptr to see if simply unlocking the 7 bank slots and NOTHING ELSE will give me all 6 new tabs. (among other tests). depending on how one interprets the blue post, one could read it as getting a bank tab credit per bank slot unlocked regardless of which ones.

like for example, wut if i bought 4 bank slots, 1 reagent, and 1 void storage (not both, to equal 6 total "slots") will that unlock all 6 new tabs? what does all 7 bank slots and zero reagent and zero void give you? only 3 tabs? etc.

unfortunately character copy has been shit all day for me so i haven't been able to test any of this. what a wasted day. all so i can potentially save 12k fml im a cheapskate lol.

edit: as they say, time is money and i should have just bit the bullet and spent the day cleaning up all my toons instead of being hard headed and trying to get into ptr just to see what happens with only having maxed bank and zero everything else. plus the discord had more test examples. i think all 7 bank slots become 3 tabs in the conversion. that's all i wanted to know. (thanks to coolzo in disc)

took me 2 days to finish doing about 200 bank toons, and have to open 4 frozen accounts as well, this is a good time to expand storage space, i doing everything manually, and half of these toons are storage toons and they cant fly, so i am using that slow motorbike to get from point to point .. will move some guild bank items to characters after blizzard's guild bank screw up last year, lost so many expensive stuff, at least 120 million gold wiped out

[ ... ]

imo this change, along with one button, and more to come from MSFT is more than likely them working on making WOW console compatible
but thats only server-side complexity (you need a big fat db for it), on the client it doesnt really do anything

While i hate myself for not giving a fuck to all of this while warbank was a thing here is a workaround.
Pick mop chromie time, go to sw/hord keep, turn in quest after skipping cinematic, go and start lorewalking, go to pandaria via portal room, loot The Hammer of Folly, Terracotta Head, Rikktik's Tiny Chest. Do backwards if hord.
Turn off lorewalking to hs back to capital.
Takes about 10 min per character.

Might aswell grab fruit hat and Statue of Xuen to have a tiger in your bag for generations to come.

If account does not have flying and full of level 10s in i16 gear with 10g on em = <3 = pick dragoflight chromie time before/after turning on lorewalking.
Once in pandaria, pull mobs and que follower dungeon near death. Release spirit and fly as ghost to the items in question.
You got 40 seconds to enter dungeon.

Do /sw and aim at 30 seconds. Enter in midair or near mobs. once inside dungeon - leave. re que before you die.
Beats walking or waiting for darkmoon to fish.

Else can keep on creating dragons to cover your base.
Insta level 10 and can soar.

So first off if you have anything in void storage or your bank you care about, move it out to your bags before then.
I'm assuming this is just a precaution expecting the possibility for items to get lost or end up in the mailbox similar to how the item/character upgrade has worked in the past?

Has anyone tested out a character with completely full void storage, reagent tab, max size bags in bank slots etc.?

Yeah it's a safety measure in the event of another, "Accidental loss of data."

In theory, if everything went well, the size of the new bank tabs means you wouldn't have to worry about overflow even if you had filled every possible inventory slot.

In practice it's very likely that something screws up. That will happen regardless of how full your inventory is.

So basically 3 main possible outcomes of this:

1) It works without a hitch and stuff in your void will be found in the new tabs.
2) It works, but the stuff in the void bank will be sent into your mail (which for F2P is as good as lost).
3) It doesn't work and the stuff in your void bank vanishes without a trace.

The two 'bonus' possibilities is that this could happen to our regents and/or our regular banking items.

So if you want to be EXTRA safe about this, place items you do not want to lose under any circumstance in the main bank tab. Cause you never know: When they get rid of the bank bag slots everything there might end up in the mail as opposed to into the bank.

Yes. Which is why I made this topic to tell people to unlock everything now if they can. The more you unlock now, the more tabs you will have afterwards, and the less likely something overflows and vanishes or goes to your mailbox.

In theory you should have enough space afterwards that wont happen, but this is Blizzard. So I doubt even God would know for sure whats going to happen on patch day.

I did see some people say their Plain Letters got blanked out on the PTR. So if you have any of those you care about, make sure they are in your bags before 11.2.0, along with anything else you really care about.

If something goes wrong, I expect the main bank tab to be just as vulnerable as anything else. It's also getting replaced by the new system. Personal bags are the only place I'd be comfortable putting something irreplaceable.

Makes sense to me. I suppose before the patch goes up (on Aug 5th in theory?) the relative safety of our bags is probably going to be:

Character bags - Most safe
Main bank
Bank bags
Regent tab
Void bank - Least safe

Though I suppose the safest way is to wait for other people to confirm all of their stuff got moved without problems, cause if there is problems then you can wait until Blizzard actually fixes things.
