Blizzard is changing the player banks to have six tabs that can be used for anything, similar to a warbank or guild bank. They are closing the reagent tab and void storage and moving the items over to the new tabs. So first off if you have anything in void storage or your bank you care about, move it out to your bags before then.

Also the new tabs will be a good bit more expensive to unlock than current storage is. The last two tabs will be priced beyond the f2p cap (2500g and 5000g) so unlock both void storage tabs, and all bag slots and the reagent tab, if you haven't already otherwise the last two tabs will become grandfathered until f2p gets another gold cap increase. You don't need to actually have bags in the slots to get all tabs as I tested with a character that had none and got all six tabs once transferred to the PTR.
 
A popcorn shitshow ahead, prolly. Warbank was a small sadness to me, and the pessimist in me winked and waved when the article talked about the possibility of zerg logins fekking things up.

yea if you've got a lot of stuff in your banks, this sounds like a PRIME opportunity to end up having stuff that was in your void storage automatically placed in tabs that cannot be unlocked without a sub/higher level

Pull everything you're going to want access to into your character bags before this change.

Its appears to be either a bane or boom, depending on your character. One thing not mentioned is, will the Void Elf get a new racial? As this Allied Race got a 50% off transmogrification and void storage. Without the Void Storage, their racial seems weaker :p
 
And the strat behind unlocking the void storage is to have those items moved to the new tabs, yes?

Its cause unlocking void storage gets you two more tabs. If you dont unlock it they will cost 2500g and 5000g later on, meaning f2p can't get them.

But anything you care about in there, take out and put in your bags on your character in case Blizzard manages to mess this up.

Not relevant to twinks but, for completeness, from my reading of the announcemment, these slots are all automatically unlocked at level 80 so there's no need to buy the void storage if you're level 80. You'll get them anyway.

It's just twinks who obviously won't get to level 80 so need to worry about this. Getting 2 98 slot bank tabs for the purchase of void storage is kinda wild. It only costs what? 250g? For void storage? Definitely do that.
 
I’ll be honest, I have a very particular way of storing things in the bank…… just picking up my $hit and shoving it wherever the heck they want is going to mess me up…..

if you need a bit of extra gold to snag these tab unlocks, the quickest 100g i know of is the hammer of folly in pandaria (2 other treasures right nearby too, for like 20g more) and you can pick it up even below 20, just turn on LW

there might be a quicker 120g but thats my go to
 
just to be clear, i need to spend 100g to open the void storage, and spend another 100g to open the Reagent Bank, and have all 7 Bag Slots purchased (does not need to put a bag in each) to have the NEW 6 Tabs ? ps. and bags (32 slots, 30 slots etc) will no longer be used ?

To my understanding yes. 200g total for the reagent and void, and no bags will be needed for slotting outside of your character.

You need 311g 10s to unlock all storage from nothing. 111g 10s for the bank bag slots, 100 for the reagent tab and 100 for void storage. That is all you need to unlock all six bank tabs after the update. The total cost afterwards will be 9101g for them if you aren't a max level.

If you are broke, Parry's suggestion to turn on LW and go get Pandaria treasures will work fine.
 
getting rid of bags, if that's what they are doing and using tabs like warband was probably done to reduce data, computations, and is more efficient

there are alot of bags, containers, ammo pouches/quivers (long ago converted to work as bags), quest rewards, loot tables, recipes, 20+ years of mats that can be removed related to storage systems

imo this change, along with one button, and more to come from MSFT is more than likely them working on making WOW console compatible

Mechagon grays are an excellent source of gold. Some of them are 100-200g each.
 
if you are a pure F2P and can't unlock mechagon

do the ethereal LW until you get to korthia, go around and loot the skull marked treasure kill rares, mobs, etc. you will wrack up gold fast
 
You can also just kill the three Diablo treasure goblins in the main city every hour. They can drop about 30-60g each, plus you can get the pet / mount / transmogs and the 30-something slot bag if you haven't already. The event goes until the 29th, a week before the patch drops.
 
Why? Are the void bank guys getting deported because of the whole "association with void-related expansions thing"? :(
