tell your feeling about backpaddle. and pls tell if u have it binded in your keys or unbinded. and the reason you did it.

if you backpaddle time to time pls tell which situation you do it. and if u never use backpaddle pls tell it also.

time to time we are discussing it in spine. there is a video from tournament, one of the biggest player orangemarmalade jumping backpadling start of the arena. also i read he is backpadling during arena also. not saying he is not strafing. but at least the key is binded.

im not saying dont strafe or strafing is bad. just thinking backpaddle is a movement and usuable in some situation. pls share.

I haven't unbinded or changed the S key to something else but then again I never use it. The only time I might use it is if I want to stand on the very edge of a cliff / edge to avoid ambushes, but that's it.

I dont loook down to people who backpeddle. We've all been there and most change after learning about strafing and mouse turning. For the noble people who stuck with the backpeddling, play how you want!

Toon Named Backpedofor multiple reasons lol

Edit: unbounded :(

i dont have any kind of problems with ppl who backpaddle (well except the male nightelf huntard backpaddlers) but there is NOT a single advantage in PVP with backpaddling. Thats why you bind S to an other spell. Even if you have less buttons, S is the perfect button for spells because you dont even need 1/10 sec to hit it on your keyboard.

and yes, you could play with 3 buttons or you play with focus stuff and end up having 10+ even as a restodruid without wild charge

which spell, we are playing with 3 keys. and if u mean end game, backpaddle is really usefull in pve. i dont think people play with different movement key keybind for pve / pvp.

an example of backpadlle while tanking.

charge, thunderclap. mobs attacking you but to much seperated. you backpaddle a bit. they will pile on you. shockwave etc.

think i gonna join pvp as arms after tanking. why should i unbound my s key? there are 1 million keys on keyboard and modifiers.

I use Frostfire Bolt on my S key with the modifier for focus/target - it's one of my more frequently used spells due to the procs. I can see why back peddle is useful in PvE but i'm doing PvP and imo its completely useless in arena - i've not had to or felt like i needed to use back peddle.

In fact from my experience so far in arena, people who back peddle (enemy) pay the price for it, I can go ham on them without worrying about them LoS'ing behind a pillar. Which normally results in a win.

Also I've found that at end game its harder to bind keys because almost all spells are useful in certain situations. So that S key is essential for me. I use Q,W,E to move then also use Mod+ Q,W,E for spells. Regarding key binds, if you use Q,W,E you have a massive chunk of keys available, for example my binds are like this at the moment - asdfgzxcvbrt12345 then plus mods (shift, control, alt)

This pretty much

I've bound S ( in my case S,E,F movement ,it's D) to Disengage back in Cata. After just a couple accidents it was easy to break the bad habit and i do not look back as I do not see a use for backpaddle. Having an "oh shit" button really close to your movement is cool, too.

No reason to ever doing it in combat and such, but its still bound for me for the few situations I'd use it.
When dropping to the horde tun roof edge, you can use backpeddle to switch up the way you do it normally, which can fake a lot of people out (also usable with a few other jumps)
Blazing speed affects backpeddle movement speed and Its amusing to me.
Never forget the infamous disengage demo leap! (Jump+backpeddle+demo leap) granted you could just turn the screen real fast and leap any direction normally, but it is also amusing.

Still bound for me, like said above I used it occasionally for wsg jumps. Just be happy that I quit using the arrow keys. Hahahaha
Edit: use

This exactly. It's the highest form of hubris to mistakenly think that someone else being different means they are inferior.

It's also pretty arrogant to proudly announce that you have unbound your S-key, implying that anyone who hasn't is somehow not as competent as you.

Truthfully, at the level we play, I don't have enough abilities to fill out my standard 1-5 and alt-1-5 keys, so I certainly don't -need- the extra key. Typically I use 1-5, alt-1-5, alt-Q for trinket, alt-E for whatever my character's other CC is (Quaking Palm on pandas for example), shift-F and shift-G for their primary class abilities (stealth and shadowmeld on rogues, stances on warriors, hunter's mark on hunters (before they changed that BS), believe me that is PLENTY of keys for a level 20.

When you have been playing PC video games, platformers, 1st-person shooters, etc as long as I have, you're not going to unbind one key for one game and throw off years of habit just to be able to say on a message board that you're one of the cool kids. If I were feeling arrogant myself, I could even turn it on its head and say that those who DO unbind their S-key obviously have no gaming experience outside of World of Warcraft PVP. But that is certainly not an argument I'm going to get into because I'm not that kind of arrogant (or masochistic).

Edit: AND I still have Q and E bound to strafe, for those times when I really need to strafe and I don't have the right mouse button down! AND I still have the arrow keys bound, for when I need to move somewhere but I'm eating chips and salsa with my left hand! (I'm left-handed in case you didn't know) ANNNND I play with a trackball instead of a mouse!! OMG burn Kincaide at the stake for being different *froth*

Damn, finally found another person that uses a trackball! Mouses are for nubs, they will never experience the greatness that is playing wow on the couch/bed

what are you on about right now
who in this thread has been arrogant
hop off bro

No reason to back peddle when you can back jump, not that I see many people back jumping in this bracket. Even some of the more well known fcs just run forward taking hits in the back. Some of them do strafe, but this only covers half of your back

I do occasionally use peddle backing up on ledges and for tanking in pve
