Hello everyone!
TL;DR: Come play this game with me, you wont regret it. The company that ruined its original release years ago were bought out and fired. Now the people running seem to actually have great ideas and are going to pull it off.
Hope everyone is doing well. For those of you who are reliving classic or experiencing it for the first time looks like you are having a blast. For those of you who are like me and wasn't interested in classic or maybe you have been in classic a bit and its just not what you are looking for i suggest you come play Archeage Unchained with me, i'll explain why.
I have been in online gaming since 1997. I have had many clans or guilds over the years, I've been in the mmo scene, RTS, FPS, FGC, MTG offline and online. I've done it all to some degree casually & high level. I have been with some very successful guilds in many popular titles. Either i was the GM, or i was part of the leadership in some capacity. Some of you know me from my time playing WoW, and have heard my battle stories, my accomplishments, etc. When i tell people to come play with me, those that do find themselves doing things that are memorable. Trust me, this doesn't happen often due to the nature of how games release.
So Archeage is releasing a new version of itself. Now this isn't a fresh start, or starting the game on a older patch to relive the glory days. They are changing this game from pay to win to play to win. Now when Archeage originally released i would say it was one of the best Pay to Win games out there. If you spent big money, you got gear and seriously outclassed people. I know of guys who went all out on being armor-smiths and weapon-smiths who made $100,000s of dollars in real life cause of how people just wanted to get that glory crafted item. I do think with the changes to the game "removing advantage items" from the cash shop is huge to making this a enjoyable rewarding game. You could buy RnG boxes on marketshop and sell the items on Auction house for gold, so you could buy whatever you wanted depending on how much RNG boxes you bought and sold the mats from them. I don't think that crafted items will be worth what they were $$$wise due to a new type of gear (hiram) that is leveled thru farming world drop items and feeding said item to level it up (called synthesis). But crafted gear will be the best end game, and there are people who are going to want it.
So that brings me to what makes Archeage special. First off its two factions just like wow, the ocean between the two continents you can sail in and explore. The game has housing and farming so you claim land to do things. This is part of the player driven economy. People claim land they farm it, make items to turn into crafted gear or packs. If you make packs you then take them to another zone and turn in for gold. Some zones you can never be attacked, But if you take the packs to zones that allow pvp then you get more gold for doing so. So you have people running these packs and others trying to steal the packs that makes for world pvp on land and in the ocean. You can load up ships with these packs and take across the ocean for a even bigger reward. The sea battles, pirating type stuff is truly fun. There is such much depth for player driven content in this game it has the right mix of theme park & sandbox.
If you have never played Archeage, you should really do this. I can tell you the nostalgia for games like Star Wars galaxies and how you had to be there and live it, is exactly why you need to play Archeage unchained when it releases Sept 30th. Its going to be one of those things where if you never played this game you are missing out on great mmorpg. If you have played Archeage then you should know Trion was bought, all the incompetents have been fired, and now its on a great trajectory with no pay to win.
