AFK boat leveling 110-120: 23 hours

So I wanted to see how long it would take me to level a second account afk while running Island Expeditions. XP was almost only from completion bonus. Final played time was 22 hours 53 minutes. There were some crashes and downtime, not all of it was spent in expeditions.

My runner and alt:
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/outland/Photonz lvl 110
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/outland/Photons (Boatman)

Method:
  • Bought second BFA account and used 110 boost on Boatman, traveled to boralus
  • Boatman stayed on boat during runs
  • 5% xp gem in boe ring on Boatman
  • Third party member was either a paying customer or a random which wanted to come for more runs. As more runs = more BoEs = more gold you need to decide if the time spent finding a customer is worth it.
  • Prioritized portal bosses and invasion elites
  • Boatman was always in rested area between runs
Loot:
Lessons learned:
  • Caster mobs can be a big problem. On maps like The Dread Chain you can use the caves to LOS the mobs and make them come at you in a big pile.
  • Run time will vary from 5-15 min depending on your teammate and unfortunate deaths
  • Azerite spheres should be used to get 30s buff, but save them until you need healing or ressing.
  • People will try to kick your boatperson until you explain what's going on
  • Leveling would have been much faster if Boatman took part in killing mobs
  • The risk of doing huge pulls with mobs that can stun is not worth it when you're alone
  • The amount of BoEs per minute spent is pretty good if runs are fast

All in all, I had fun. Results should be reproducible.

Your “boatman” is a demon hunter, so up until lvl 115 you could have been bringing the mobs back to the boat where he is and quickly tabbed between the two accounts to use eye beam. Just a thought, would take a lot of skills but I’m sure can be done

Especially if you either have 2 monitor and or a large monitor you can have the 2 wow clients side by side.

Could download an add on to do your bars how you want it, and made a 1 button bar with eye beam on it that is huge and in middle of screen.

Have you considered going to 111? The 233 gear may bit a bit pricey but you'll probably net a good amount of stats if you switch over.

Afaik that would make my 110 weaker in IEs because of scaling. I think working towards BiS at 110 would be better than switching to 111. I might be wrong.

Total number of afk runs would've been an interesting stat

You could also have pulled the island near the boat, dont even need to tag from 2nd acc to get mob experience

The (inexpensive) 233 gear is only a placeholder to get started quickly. The appeal of 111 (beside alchemy trinket and enchants/consumables scaling better) is if you have full socket antorus gear, since you get 40 stats per slot instead of 11. Even then we don't have enough data to determine if that's worth the scaling disadvantage you have at 111 compared to 110.
