Advertising Twinks To Increase Our Numbers

Hey this is the first time I’ve posted on twink info but I really appreciate what you guys have done to get things sorted and up and running as I loved twinking on this bracket so happy to be able to continue it.

But it has dawned on me recently that if I hadn’t accidently stumbled across the site when I was drunk one night hoping twinks were up and running again (thank god I did), I would not have heard of this community and re made my twinks and got 5 of my friends up and running again aswell.

It made me think well if wasn’t drunk once I wouldn’t be twinking now. And I remember back in the day when I was twinking there was a huge amount of twinks on the horde and alliance that just aren’t there now. And I think this could be because of 2 things that can be addressed,

1 – Old twinks don’t know that twinks are even running again (but like me) would jump on the chance to play them again.

2 – Old twinks had heard a rumour that twinks are running again logged on their twinks quickly had a look at the que time saw unavailable, and logged off thinking it was a rumour that wasn’t true.

So I thought if I make a macro that I clicked whenever I logged on that advertised that twinks were up and running again. Hopefully people who were unaware would know that they are active. So I made this macro and have been using it for about a week.

/2 Twinks are back up and running and are active so if you want a character you can just go on and pvp without the grind go check WoW Twink Info for more info.

And the reason why I am now writing this thread is because so far I have have managed to find an old alliance twink on tarren mill and get him back up and running. and today I had a whisper from a horde again on tarren mill asking if 24-29 were up and running again I explained to check twinkinfo, I explained the games how active they were so on and so on. He’s said he’s making a warrior and he’s going to get his two mates to make a resto druid and a holy pala. And he was so inspired he said he was gonna farm for the boa weapon and make the twink tonight.

Seeing as though i have had success with it, my idea is if we get someone on each faction to quickly use a macro like that in a city on multiple servers, and actively help anyone who asks questions we could seriously improve our numbers and improve activity which means more pops, and I love pops.

good idea for people who are on twink populated servers. wish i was

I think a great way to promote the recursion of twinking would be to start up a twinking guild. If you spam your guild info from time to time I guarantee you'll get whispers from interested parties. If you have a guild going and can let people know there are pops, or that you can help them with gearing and whatnot, it might go that extra distance into getting them organied.

I know some of my most dedicated times spent twinking (there havent been many I've been pretty casual over the years) came when I was involved with a 19 twink guild back in the day, having buddies and gchat related to playing games really motivated me to get into WSG and kick some ass.

Well my point is if your on a non populated twink server it may still have twinks on it

For instance I don't think tarren mill is populated by twinks at least (20-29) but me and my 5 friends and the 4 i got going were all interested

they might have not noticed there running so try use a macro every so often see if you get anyone interested anyway i would really appreciate it :)

And well iv help set up an alliance guild but there is only a few on it atm but i agree if you can find enough on your server creating a guilds a great idea for increasing numbers however if there is not enough for a guild it's probably a good idea to spam a informative macro to advertise it. Either way More people And then More POPS :)

i have tried that on my 39's realm but i always get whispers from retards that say "you are a noob twinking died when they made exp BGs go play at max lvl" and then they post in /2 LOL fail it is dead

Have been doing that on my old server from some time now. I've got 0 replies since 4.0.1. So, I'm afraid it totally depends on the realm you're on. But still, a good idea if you want to put some effort on. We seem to lack some Alliances or someone to wishes to step up in Remembered. It seems the guild is slowing down a bit since Lathoriel got busy IRL. Come on people, we need moarrrrr.

This not good ... this is how you fill the bracket with half-geared levelers that take the spots of people who have worked hard to best in slot thier twink and not get games because of random lvling scrubs saw a post in trade and decided to lock thier xp.

Also it makes the side that is filled with the halfgeared clickers ( and the ones who are actually twinks and put in the effort) not want to play because thier team consists of a bunch of randoms who put no effort into gear and sit in midfield all game.

I mean it happened before... i had 5 people in my guild couldnt get into a wsg (all been working on twinks for months, gathering agm's and such... even old school twinks with grandfathers) it really is a bad move to promote in this way. and deffinatly ruins it for the real players.

Its a slow proces trying to re-establish numbers. In Europe it took the best part of 2 months and some awesome individual advertising to get games going again after Cata release.

My advide would be to keep recruiting to original guilds that way new twinks will have access to gear they may struggle to get on their own. I myself are funding 1 person on my server with boosts to get the best in slot gear available. It's only one other person, but its 1 more back to the bracket who won't be a complete scrub.

A very good point guess I didn't look at it that way but I seriously doubt you’ll get half geared levelers as you can’t level in the xp off bg's. at the very most you get weak Almost BIS twinks who are less skilled.

Although i see your point but i would much rather in 3 months be able to log in most of the peak time and play on my twinks even if it not so hardcore than have to come on tuesday and Sunday play 4 games or as in last tuesday 1 game cause from what iv noticed many of the hardcore twinkers are really impatient and quit pretty quick if no pops, because the more hardcore people tend to be impatient as they are normally harcore in other aspects of wow and feel they are wasting time, and i mean tend I’m not saying everyone as i know the few iv played with are on twice a week all night.

In regards to what you said with it would be really annoying for the hardcore twinks who have put extreme effort into it being stuck with being against awesome twinks and stuck with semi twinks on thier side, although that is definatly annoying it wouldn’t happen too often as most of the time it would be balanced with semi twinks on both sides. and as the pops hopefully will be much more often if you get a bad game like that it makes little difference due to the fact you could get another one sometime soon :)

I don't want to seem too pushy with the idea these are just my counter points to justify the idea, I am still interested what everyone thinks as a whole as again I’m pretty new to this community :)

Maybe it is not the best way to recruit new ppl but we should do something....

We still need more ppl to have games every evening. It starts with promotion in threads on the official wow forums. We have a 29 thread there but the only ppl who make announcements for games or something like that are Mialu and me..... We need more ppl who are really active and do everything to increase our numbers!

We have a lot of 29s who play in the 19s bracket. If there is a skilled twink on your side , ask him and tell im something about our bracket!

We are all slacking atm. Ye ofc we have games every tuesday and sunday, but this is not our goal is it? I want to have games every evening and we have to do something for it.

I see your point and I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time I'm not convinced taking an elitist attitude and making judgmental decisions about who should and shouldn't be able to play in the bracket is the right way to go.

Correct. The problem is... getting new people into it. Older players (and I mean, playing longer) who played against twinks back in the Vanilla days, have, in most cases, some discust versus twinks. They got steamrolled, over and over, and I do understand. They think most are 12 year olds who failed at end-game. We have to do something about this. Korenametooshort did a good attempt on this matter, however, this ain't enough. This is the first point we need to clear out if we want ever to get new players involved. When being in battlegrounds, talk people into it when playing on XP-on. Lead WSG and show you got some skill. (Don't roll a hunter or a FOTM class, you'll get your ass kicked anyway)

On the other hand, there are those who are playing now in other active brackets. They should know 29's are active aswell. Dragging those back to our bracket, is kinda hard. This is something from those among us who play other levels. Get them to us. Please do.

Next thing. Those who play in non-active brackets. Those are possibly the easiest to get. They are bored, they know about twinking, they did it before. Perfect. Let them know and convince them. Go go do it.

And last, old 29's who don't know we are playing again. I believe there are several hundreds of 29's across all servers who are ready to play again if they knew. Not only on English servers, but German, French, ... aswell. Native speakers, create a post, not too long, not too short. Post it at the Battlegroup forums. The word has to be spread.

I've been trying to get games popping again since the release of merged battlegrounds (4.0.1) and I've been there 95% of all queue dates. First months were horrible. I believe we lost some there. Impatience is killing us. Be patient. It has proven his worth to wait.

And ofcourse, don't freak out when you got steamrolled over. Try to get your teammates next game to work together even more. And after the gamenight is over and most leave, think about something how you can defeat them next time.

I believe in our cause. I do. Spread the word.

Greetings

I think Laura's spot-on. Let's back up and take a "big picture" look for a moment.

1) Unlike the days of old, no one is going to accidentally find out about twink brackets anymore. 70s are the most popular bracket we have right now, and many people *still* have no idea what this whole "turn off your XP" thing is for. Promotion is the only way new and returning players will find out.

2) Relative to everyone who used to twink over the last five years, only a very small population stuck with it last year. Thanks to the BG merger, we have a lot of returning twinks who missed out on the higher caliber of play that happened in the XP-off battlegrounds last year, and it shows. Nothing wrong with that, but this whole "don't pollute our bracket" idea went out the window when we started getting games again.

Which leads me to say this -- of all times, *now* is the time to promote XP-off play, while people are still rusty and the "aggravation" of training up fresh players won't weigh so heavily. The overall quality of XP-off games took a noticeable dip when battlegrounds finally merged, and that's a *good* thing. The fresh blood keeps us honest, and reminds us that coordination take precedence once we finish our gearing.

Done with my soapboxing for now. In summary, yes, promoting XP-off play will degrade the quality of games in the short term, but it's already paying off with expanded games and growing skills. Players learn fast when they sit at the bottom of the charts, and don't get heals because they're off being battleground heroes. We're raising a new generation of XP-off players, and the time is ripe to make the most of it!

Hey,

this is the link to our new 29 thread

***Official 29 PVP Thread (WSG-Days-Su/Tue at 20:00)*** - Forums - World of Warcraft

Could you please push it a bit?

We have to be more active there, that ppl see we are still alive and growing.

Push it with informations about the latest wsg / screenshots / short recruiting post or just anything about 29 twinking ;-)

The thread should always be on the first page!

This is a start we have to do more ofc.

It got deleted ? :O

Explains it all. http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1910871180#1 Seems you'll have to remake it.
