AB weekend

That's why i'm farming to get my BoAs and getting the hell outta BGs, arenas all the way!

Why do people track killing blows? Damage done > all ? Anyone can get a killing blow . Just be at the right place at the right time and wait for billy bob to work some one down and you finish them off. But, thats just my way of looking at that.

cotus's AB strategy treatise volume 1: Camping the Stables/Farm

lots of different noobs will tell you lots of different things about "AB strategy". people have all kinds of stupid ideas about how AB should be played. there are people who constantly call out to defend. there are people who constantly call out to attack new nodes. there are people who are obsessed with holding a certain node. let me help you out: ignore everything that these noobs say.

but there is one strategy in AB that trumps all others: the Starting Zone-In Camp. this strategy consists of capping and holding stables if you're horde, farm if you're alliance, and repeatedly killing all enemy players who attempt to leave this starting zone-in area. a small group of coordinated, skilled twinks can easily contain a force twice their size using this technique. the rest of your team will easily be able to control the rest of the map as you kill the enemy in their starting area over and over and over again.

it is absolutely imperative that you not allow people to escape while you are executing this strategy. if you let enemy players get past you, they will be able to rejoin the battleground, and your strategy will backfire. you have to be absolutely ruthless with your camping. an ideal setup for this is to place a hunter or a stealth class back at the flag and to then take the rest of your crew and camp the exit to the fence at the zone-in area. this way, you can ensure that nobody gets out.

i see lots of noobs attempt to execute this strategy, but don't make sure that people can't escape. DON'T LET THEM OUT. by the time they get out, your team will already have a massive resource lead, and the game will be effectively over.

i wish you luck in your arathi basin adventures. stay tuned for AB strategy treatise volume 2: how to actually position yourself so you can help your team

KB's are sorted by default, but you can sort any category you want. I've seen ppl with 6 dmg done and 1 kb... If you use dots you should sort damage to feel good about yourself. If you heal sort heals. If you are a rogue sort hks. You want information on who is together sort hks and look for clusters of similar numbers, etc, etc.

If you are referring to my ss, I was indicating the gear levels of horde. I've been ss'ing each game from horde or alliance perspective to get an idea about the overall population levels. That ss indicates the basic problem with this bracket.

I was thinking about doing a score board analysis to help ppl understand what the numbers mean. But why ruin their fun?

Because they want to feel that they are skilled.

They may not interrupt casts, cap nodes, cc, or position themselves

But they are top 1 at KBs and DMG!!!

just beat the spirestone <EPIC> 24 premade by almost 450 resources with an alliance team that had 0 (zero) 24s and 3 (three) hunters

this shit is honestly just pathetic. they weren't quite as bad as the 24s from Cairne that i posted about in this thread earlier. but they are pretty fucking bad. and what's even more pathetic is that they all have the special blizzard mounts that they have spent IRL money on. really, if you're going to put an actual monetary investment in something, can you at least not suck? can you at least learn how to spec, gear, and play your character correctly?

you guys SUCK. and i mean SUCK. if you're spending money on a game and can't even compete against a bunch of random people who are freeloading 4 levels beneath you with silly pseudo-enchants and 1000 less HP (these guys roll around fully buffed), you might want to consider playing a different game. complete garbage.

Though I do not agree with C O T U S ' s communication methods... I'm killing 24s naked so... idk what to say ;p

I do not expect you to play any kind of sports so this might be difficult for you to comprehend.

What you suggest is that players should storm the other team's dug-out and prevent them from entering the field, thereby preventing those players on your own team that want to play the actual game from playing as well.

While I could e.g. quote GM's on that matter ('really mean and unfair behaviour in an objective based BG'') and try to appeal to people's empathy, the bottom line is that people you have to explain why certain behaviour is wrong won't probably get it anyway.

That would be analogous if AB were anything like professional sports

Only problem i see with this is that this is AB weekend, and if thry win, they get 45-90 honor, if you ask most of those players they would probably much rather win that way then "playing the actual game" ii think that blocking a chuck of the enemies team with a smaller amount of your team is a great strategy, if you can pull it off!! I would like to try this with a coordinated 5 man some time, and see. How many we can hold off for how long. 30 second res time combined with any opposing healers could mean a continuous fight, and sending those healers to the GY would probably do them a favor by restoring their mana...

Edit: sorry about the typos im on my phone

Yeah I hear going all Tonya Harding in Little League is all the rage now.

Oh wait.

The whole basis of games is that they are a social activity people play for fun and interaction, and in fact it is more like professional sports to not to give a damn about the opposing team than to do so in recreational sports/games (though of course such antigonistic behaviour leads to hooliganism and other crap).

Social activities/interaction requires social behaviour, and while I am the first to acknowledge the fact that plenty of crappiness goes on in the XP-On/BoA Battlegrounds, more and more I am starting to become convinced that all the talk of a 'Twink community' etc. and the adherence to what others would call normal social behaviour and mores during WotLK (in short: don't be an asshole) wasn't so much because people acted out of conviction but because they acted out of convenience: being limited to one's Battlegroup meant that queues were fragile, now that queues are region-wide any and all mores are flushed down the toilet.

In short: I've come to expect too many players acting like a-holes in XP-On, I am very disappointed this has become the norm in XP-Off as well.

Perhaps the saddest part is that people are suprised that Blizzard doesn't take Twinks seriously when Twinks don't even take the siplest of social mores serious anymore.

BTW:

I won't explain why this tactic is wrong even from an amoral point of view, anybody who has ever seen troglodytes trying to pull this off knows why. Let's just say that if a bunch of Quest-geared 10-14's can consistently beat a bunch of Heirloomers (trying to) utilise this mindless mob behaviour, I mean, well thought -out tactic, it sure isn't going to work with any regularity in a much more evenly geared bracket.

The less said about resorting to premades in a PUG environment because of a lack of basic social skills, the better.

no, sorry, you have obviously never played AB, because this tactic works almost every single time. if you've seen it fail, it's because the people haven't executed it properly or the rest of their team sucks too much to control the rest of the map.

you are welcome to have your own opinion on whatever you want. but your analogy makes absolutely no sense. since you'd like to use a sports analogy - a better analogy would be a football play which is designed to draw more defenders using less players to an area of space on the field, allowing one or more players to be open unguarded somewhere else.

i can understand why someone would think this is lame. but this is how you win the arathi basin battleground, whether you like it or not. do you think that they made the zone-in gate that small on accident? nope - it's that way on purpose to allow stronger teams to 5-cap more effectively. i'm never, ever going to feel like an "asshole" for playing a game correctly.

And can anybody guess what my favorite sport is!? Haha great analogy Cotus!!

Right, it are not the Stables/Farm zergers that screw up, it are those defending the bases that generate resources the soonest that screw it up for the zergers.

But of course it's never ever you that might be at fault, as exemplified by e.g.

Just as with your earlier ''we are supposed to GY/spawn camp now Blizzard has changed the WSG map'' (even though when they announced this change, their announcement on the EU Forum clearly showed they thought this would prevent camping in the traditional sense), now it's not you being an ass but again ''the map makes me an ass''.

Blizzard's maps are buggy, unwell-thought through, and have been used in ways that weren't intended yet possible for ages (like eg the multi-seat mounted FC's in the past, or the AB Stable roof jumps). In your view every bug etc. that isn't removed immediately is intended, and of course absolves you of each and every responsibility of your actions. Sorry but your view is rather immature and silly.
