A question about the Sniper Scope

As the heading says, I have a question about the scope mentioned above.

... says, that the scope doesn't work at level 20. What made me wonder was the fact that the scope can be used from level 17. My twink was able to attach it to the gun on its own.

Now I have taken two identical account weapons and enchanted one of them with the sniper scope. Otherwise the character was naked. Already when you put on the weapon you could see that the tooltip changed e.g. from cobra shot. The damage displayed in-game increased from 83 to 95 per shot.

Then I made 100 autoshots with both guns at a level 19 target. The weapon with the sniper scope caused minimum damage 38 and maximum damage 41, the weapon without a scope caused 33 to 36 damage. The ratio of the total damage was 4,506 to 3,827 damage in favor of the weapon with the scope.

It gives the impression that the scope works for level 20 or that I have read the guide incorrectly.

Does anyone with a little more knowledge than me have an opinion on this?

What level is the twink that you're testing it on, and what item level is your heirloom weapon scaled to? The minimum requirement of 22 refers to the item level of the weapon - if you're weapon scaled below that it didn't work, at or above 22 it did.

If you're on a 19, your heirloom should scale to item level 23, so Sniper Scope would work just fine on it.

I haven't actually tested any of this stuff since very early in Shadowlands though, so there's definitely a chance things have been changed since then.

@Swoops ... My character is level 20 and the account weapons were iLvL 26 ... My mistake seems to have been that I thought the given level refers to the level of the character. Who can read has a clear advantage ;-).

Hah, totally fair since this stuff is super confusing and there's absolutely zero indication whatsoever in-game about how any of it works. I tried to make it as clear as possible, but that was definitely an uphill battle and I never ended up 100% happy with it.

Glad it worked out though! (and also glad it's still accurate, idk if I have a full update in me right now )
