85 enh shaman with Sun-lute?

So i have finally decided to make a 85 shaman twink, but I got a couple of questions before i start gearing up.
I looked around a bit in the forums and couldn't find any 85 enhancement shamans...are they bad or just not popular?

There are a couple of hunters who has pretty much best in slot but there are a couple of different builds, some roll full mail while others got a couple of leather pieces...is it worth losing the mail bonus to get those extra items?
And finally to the reason why i chose a shaman.. Sun-lute+windfury. back in wotlk i had a 60 enhancement shaman with dark edge of insanity and it was most likely the most fun i have had in wow ever. rolling 2x1h is not an option when there is a 2 handed axe of doom available!

Too bad enhancement shamans mastery doesn't increase windfury damage in any way tho.

I want to hear what you experienced 85 twinkers think of this, will i stand a chance in arena or are other classes/87s just too strong? I'm not aiming for a rank one but i still don't want to invest this amount of gold into a twink that doesn't stand a chance against other because of class disadvantage.

P.S My grammar is not the best, I hope the thread is understandable atleast!
 
uhh ive seen a few enhancement shamans...not sure what state they are in but I have a spriest and a warrior (with a fangcracker battlemace) but they usually forced me to flee but were easily kiteable

but against lolhunters and lolrogues im not sure how well would you fare

ive seen some hit 2.2k but their partners were rogues and they were 87/89 for the extra stats which was patches ago, in a recent fix higher levels like 87s, 89s cant join arenas

personally I wouldn't blow 70k-100k gold on a lute on such a class just make a DK or ret like everyone else if you get a lute. One of my btag friends has a ench shaman with dual mantids ...well I don't know what to say he does alright.

I think you will do ok but hunters/rogues/dks will continue to do their lolthings and you will get the usual death in 3 GCD's .... nothing much you can do about it

Problem I think with the shamans is that they have almost no defensive cooldowns whatsoever and just explode(not like any other class doesn't tho, seems like shamans just fall over easier). Another problem is what you are melee and have to run up to someone...every class except priests has a way to slow down your movement speed

Arenas

You will mostly face double rogue/rogue hunter/hunter/dk/ret/disc teams because twink rating heroes only play those

Hunters are annoying because of the instant 150k before they pop out of camo.. dat initial chimera+aimed shot....assa rogues..well..heavy dot damage, tons of stuns, impossible to peel...well if you have played 70s/80s 85 rogues are something like that too..you go from 100%-0% in approximately 3-5 seconds being unable to do anything except using your trinket while sitting in garrote/cheapshot/blind

Battlegrounds


if a rogue or a hunter wants to make you his bitch and goes after your n' stuff. through the whole game...well..you honestly have two choices either afk or bend over and his bitch, just accept the way it is now unfortunately.. Dks and rets too....probably monks and ferals destroy you aswell. Mages and warlocks probably too since they are ranged and all have multiple slows.

i, for one, say do it if you have money to blow and love enh shamans. i would love to see more windfury procs on 2/2 sunlute

Another problem is what you are melee and have to run up to someone...every class except priests has a way to slow down your movement speed

also just wanted to say, unless there have been cataclysmic changes since cata, shamans still have earthbind, frost shock (+ frozen power?), and frost brand at the very least to keep opponents snared/rooted once they get into melee range. also shamanistic rage shouldnt be terrible for damage reduction, but for any arena bracket fotm is fotm and 1 or 2 of them combined will roll arena to max rating with far less skill
 
yeah frozen power for that 5 second root-the way to go... and most opponents in the 85's bracket are already melee themselves( rogue/dk/ret/feral/monk/war)

The only ranged you see are hunters and the occasional mage/warlock/disc priest

Problem with earth bind and frozen power-every class has like 2424123 ways to escape and hit you from range before you hit them , and especially the most OP classes like rogue/hunter/dk/ret excel at that

Like you can get close and all, the problem is delivering that burst while being silenced and outdps'd....ive never seen a sun lute enhancement in action so no idea what they are capable of. Most enhancement shamans used fists of fury and were 87 for ascendance...they were capable of making me flee but couldn't instagib me unlike other classes and if you cant win vs an spriest in 5.3-5.4 you literally have to reroll

And having 20k armor just means something like 170k obliterate or 200k evisecrate is very possible so yeah...

Seeing geared enhancement shamans fight looked something liks this: they ran up to people killing one then dying to another and then just rinse repeat

The only weapon you could be referring to with "mantids" would be Mantid Sky Reaver - Item - World of Warcraft

where the F is that 87 enh dworf with lute?
there was a guy waaay back that posted some stuff about his sham getting lute and shortly after about dinging 87 to get the zapp.... uhhhm ascendance or something..
i looked around in rate section but nothing seemed to catch my eye..
 
ye i can see alot of shamans rolling 87 for ascendance to get that extra mastery dmg on windfury proccs.
i did twink 70 ALOT before and against what most people think i think it was as balanced as a twink bracket can get(mid wotlk-mid cata) or well the 6 sec spellreflect on warrs was pretty nuts back then but they got punished bigtime when cata came out ;)
I think shamans got quite a bit of defensives compared to others tho...shaministic rage(30%dmg red), astral shift(40% dmg red.), grounding totem, healing tide totem(if it has time to tick that is) and if you roll with the 100% increased healing from maelstorm weapon those isntaheals will be pretty neat.
on to the next problem...catching up to the enemy which really shouldnt be a problem either with frost shock and spirit walk(removes all movement impairing effects+60% movement speed) really.
the only real threat i see are hunters and rogues since theres no way to get out of a rogues stunlock(exept with trink straight into a blind) and all i have is shaministic rage if i dont want to trinket.
and yea the 150k aimeds...just gotta take em like a man and pray to every god of every religion that hes not hitcapped.
Note that this is all theoretical and i have no idea if it will work out or not..but im gonna try it! as soon as i get my hands on a sun lute. how much do they usually go for? got 250k ish to spend.

i forgot to mention ancestral guidance(lvl 75 talent) heals me for 40% of the dmg dealt and 60% of my healing..will come in handy when it comes to staying alive.
 
250k should be more than enough unless ur on a really high pop server. seen people posting that they see em go for 70k no bids and such on some servers
