80 Twinks

So I've come to the conclusion, that I wont be buying Cataclysm. Not anytime soon anyway. But I have a lot of 80s, and a lot of gold sitting around anyway. I was thinking about getting my prot warrior some gear, and making him an 80 twink. What I need to know is, what is the bracket range if you don't have Cataclysm? 80-84? If that's the case, do 80s have a chance against all these people leveling? And most important of all, should I use pvp gear?



Just from looking at numbers, it's hard to believe that an 80 twink would stand a chance in that particular bracket. I was also considering making a new account, or removing WoTLK, and making a 70 twink.

You won't stand a chance against even a level 81 in quest gear. Casters range at around 55-65k hp and x1.5 more SP/Crit/Haste and other stats than 80s. They will also have cataclysm enchants with items ilevel 300+. Even in Wrathful/Ilevel 264 PvE gear you won't stand a good chance. Not to mention the 84's which will probably get the PvP crafted set and will have resilience.

idk about 81s....in 264/277 gear i didnt start getting UGs till late 83/84. but those are the ones you will NOT stand a chance against. prot spec pally/warriors with 100k+ hp, dps with 70, 80k+ hp plus all the more spell power/attack power. 80s will not stand a chance against 84s.

the only advantage about being 80 is that mastery, and every other stat, scales AMAZING. seriously i didnt check at 81, but from 80 to 82 i lost 20% crit, so that'd be 10% a lvl. hit and expertise down the drain, haste too. so combat ratings are massive @ 84 vs 80, but they have every other advantage possible.

Just buy the expansion. I must tell you, pvp at 85 is so much cooler than at 80. And no, you wont stand a chance in a bg even if you had billion resi.

I have been playing my 80 4/5 wrathfull dk, changed from unholy to frost pve and reforged mastery also using 277 pve rings / neck and some nice cata weapons, seems a good amount of res. The account is w/o cata and it seems all level 80s in the bg.

These cata green wearing fools are being crit for 18ks with just howling blast lol, the AoE is intense. VERY fun, AV and IoC are amazing, all NPCs are 84-85 elites equaling a farm fest, hehe old school AV bosses again!

In IoC, Glaives are godly hitting 60k Sieges 1 hit anything, take WS then Dock, break their wall, cap everythin, and line that siege up infront of thier GY and hehe.. BOOOOOM.

Averaging 250 kills per IoC and about 300 per AV with 0-10 deaths depending if im being healbotted or what. Theres good queue times so i think alot of players still dont have cata but not alot are very geared.

Its been fun in a crazy way.

Just thought i'd add my point. I have been pvping with Cata trial (Cheating I guess?) on my 80 Shadowmourne Paladin and it is challenging and very hard, but not impossible. Yes everyone has insane amounts of HP (except me), but I intend to use my 10 day trial to get some decent plate gear and see where that leaves my hp.



Currently dont know what the capped brackets are like, but its a pretty good laugh in 80-84. I also participated in our servers Wintergrasp...5 Alliance vs 10 or so horde..we held it and I managed to kill a few 85s but its amazing what the 1 level difference does for resists etc.



I think you should just give it a go. My opinion may change after cata trial but at least I have wotlk heroics *cries*

You have a better chance of getting cata and making a 78 twink. 78 Twinks are stronger than 80-84 regardless of the huge health difference.

your hp isnt going to go up toooo much with cata gear. mostly b/c the main source of the crazy hp is that you get ~10k hp just for dinging

The bracket lacks organisation atm. Theres alot of clowns getting around in 60 and 70 gear or no resil but it has the numbers. Starting to see some guilds getting together in there now though.

so i take it that's someone else's 85 at the bottom of your post?

there are no 75-79 XP off games rolling, we just leveled 3 players thru and tested it....nothing.



the so called 78 twink that was in CATA blues and stuff in another thread-forum, is just a 78 who turned off XP got gear, and farms in XP on BGS
