Yup, about that time again... same shit different time. Hope to see less, last second, drop outs with this one though... *Painfully laughs*
The tournament teams are created via registration on the Challonge website. The link to which will be posted later on in the post. Anyone who's looking for a partner and wants to participate can use the Bnet community group, discord, and this forum to find someone.
Tournament Rules (subject to change):
-8 Teams, 16 people total
-The start of each bo5 and finals match will be played on Nagrand
-No double healer comp
-No use of [Pendant of the Violet Eye] or [Meteorite Crystal]
-No use of the trinket https://classic.wowhead.com/item=19290/darkmoon-card-twisting-nether
-No use of https://www.wowhead.com/item=77191/gurthalak-voice-of-the-deeps . ---- This is for this tournament only, as the weapon was not seen as a real problem, it does have an RNG element against classes with multiple targets (dk's, hunters, warlocks, etc).
-No use of the Whitemend/Spellfire set for the following classes --> Resto Druid, MW monk, Resto Shaman, Disc/Holy priests, Holy Paladin
-Explanation further in post
-Only allowing comp swapping after a loss
-Further clarification later in post
-BO5 up until the finals which will be a BO7
-Double elimination with a losers bracket
CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS TOURNAMENT:
-Use of the weapon Revenger, is now allowed
-The biggest change to this tournament is the removal of the whitemend/spellfire sets for specific specs. Those classes/specs being mentioned above. While these sets do come with the negative impact of having significantly less hp than wearing normal gear, they have the upside of scaling the the offensive play-style(way of the crane, feral affinity, 3k instant lava burst spams) to insane amounts. Due to this, we felt as if the games felt less interactive.
We try to make it so that all comps are allowed to have some sort of counter play, when and if a certain item (vers trinkets) or sets (whitemend/spellfire) are introduced which throw off this ability to counter-play (not much you can do vs an instant 9k ferocious bite) then we (I) make the decision to ban it. This may be a controversy and am willing to talk to people about it.
The banning of the weapon Gurth is a temporary ban, for this tournament only. Given as the community seems to seem that the weapon is fair enough to be played in tournament settings. However, for the sake of this tournament, we are going to try to host it without the weapon.

Yes, comps such as double ret/double lock/double rogue were thought of and deemed appropriate for this tournament. Although they are strong, they can be countered with correct counter play (unless the double rogue knows what they're doing but we haven't seen that yet
).
Important: You are limited to two members to each team BUT NOT TWO CHARACTERS. If after a loss you or your teammate would like to change the comp you are playing you are allowed to do so. As long as the character being switched to is owned by one of the two team members.(yes this gives an advantage to multiclassers and may be subject to change but unlikely due to how badly some comps counter others). For this rule, both teams will whisper me which comp they will be playing significantly (5-10 minutes) BEFORE the match starts so that no class swapping can be decided once teams figure out what the other is playing. If/when a team loses, AND ONLY after a loss, they are allowed to switch to a different comp.
Rule Violations:
If, you are found to have violated any of these rules, it will be an automatic loss of the series. This includes POST MATCH. For instance, if the players or casters find that this was a violation after the match played out, it will still count as a loss for the team who violated the rule. Reminder this is NOT DQ(Disqualification) ON FIRST MISTAKE. I understand sometimes you forget so, you will just be sent to losers bracket.
Disconnects:
In the event that a disconnect occurs, if the disconnect happened within the first MINUTE of arena play, then the game will be reset and restarted. If this disconnect occurs after the 1 minute mark then the team who disconnected will receive a loss. (Unless your teammate clutches a 2v1)
Prizes:
UNKNOWN... Again, similar to last tournament I do not have the gold to solo fund a tournament. I believe there may be people out there willing to donate however do not count on it. This could be a "for the glory" 2s tournament

When you register you need to make sure you create an account on the Challonge website. Once created, think of a team name and register for the tournament. Make sure you have me added on Battle.net services!!! I need to know who you are and who your teammate is so that I can make sure you are there come competition night.
As an added bonus, you are now allowed to VOTE/BET on who you think the winner of the tournament will be. This isn't for anything but a good time and possibly a good drinking game during the matches for any viewers/participators. In order to do this, you need to create an account on the Challonge website and vote for your theorized team.
