As others have said, I suspect it won't be a way to retry for upgrades, mostly as it could warp next xpac's first raid tier, especially some of the multi-socket gear from bc and wrath questing. Three sockets plus socket bonus could make up for the low ilevel. This plus certain high secondary stat items could hurt the first tier of the next xpac, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get satchels for gear.
