The damage reduction from a critical strike is capped at 33%, which equates to 591 resilience rating(which translates into 15%) at level 70. However, there is currently no cap on critical strike chance reduction.
unless you go nuts and ignore all other stats, there is no way you can have 591 res at 70 so don't even worry about the cap.
591 res is cake at 70 to surpass if you want to ignore other stats, especially after WotLK. my rogue is at 421 in S-2 gear and PVP +45 res trinket not trying.
a player in S4 would easily bust 600+ should they want to ignore stats, maybe even head to 700+
- epic 70 PVP trinket +45 res
- blizz added lvl-70 head and shoulder res/stam enchants, between the 2 they add 35 res
- talisman of the horde/alliance adds 35
- 20 res ench to chest +60 one from wotlk
- Wotlk +20 res gems or other types for various clor slots. three +34 res
gems if they were a JC
-- you could could add 60 res to that dagger you have from kara that has
3 socket slots and other slots of other gear.
- shield users could add another 12 res from BC ench
- then if not in arena but BGing add 50 res from "flask of lesser toughness"
Hotfix (2010-01-20): Resilience damage reduction doubled. So depending on their current amount of resilience, characters might experience a 10 to 20% decrease in damage taken from other players.
The damage reduction from a critical strike is capped at 33%, which equates to 1414.5 resilience at level 80. However, there is currently
no cap on critical strike chance reduction
