69 Restoration Druid Guide

Hey, Dynasu here. I am twinking a 69 Restoration druid (along with my friend who's twinking a dual-specced Resto/Destro lock). This is my first foray into the 60-69 bracket (and 61-70 AV bracket) and as such I'm kind of a noob; I did learn a lot while researching gear/enchants/etc. and I will post my conclusions below. Please feel free to offer criticisms/suggestions/improvements etc.

Head: Wonderheal XT40 Shades

Neck: Necklace of Calm Skies

Shoulders: Shoulders of the Northern Lights

Cloak: Mantle of Keristrasza

Chest: Tunic of the Nightwatcher

Wrist: Wraps of the San'layn

Gloves: Time-Twisted Wraps

Belt: Gholamcloth Wrap

Legs: Khadgar's Kilt of Abjuration

Feet: Sandals of Mystical Evolution

Rings: Signet of Swift Judgment/Khorium Band of Shadows

Trinkets: Discerning Eye of the Beast/Inherited Insignia of the Horde/Mender of the Oncoming Dawn/Sailor's Knotted Charm

(Will be using the latter two until I have the tokens for the former two on my main.)

Idol: Idol of the Emerald Queen

Weapon: Staff of the Purposeful Mendicant

---------------------------------------------------

I decided to fit ALL red and blue sockets with 9 Spell Power/12 Stamina gems and ALL yellow sockets with 9 Spell Power/8 Intellect Gems.

For enchants, I put 10 stamina on head, used the inscription buff on the shoulders, and haste to cloak. I also put powerful stats on my chest, and the +spellpower enchants on both wrist and gloves. I threw on the Runic Spellthread for legs and Tuskarr's Vitality for boots; lastly, I put spellpower on my staff as well.

Duh...shoulda mentioned this was for Horde primarily ;). I'd seen a lot of druids with different chestpieces/legs/belts at 69 and wanted to clarify what I think are the best options.

Theres two ways to look at this. Get the best stats on your gear you possibly can, or sacrifice some stats to gain armor.

Generally, you will want at least 10k hp, and at least 8k mana, and the rest in spellpower. Crit and haste are added, but unnessecary, bonuses.

Tossed together a profile for ya. The only thing you have that I do disagree with is the ring choice.

Lost a little sp to get to 10k hp, but when that rep pally twink comes a calling, you'll be glad to have the extra stam :D

Thanks a ton man! The trinkets/cloak enchant/rings are no-brainers. As to the changes for increased stamina, I'm a bit iffy. I'd played a Druid in pvp bgs at 70 and found that because of abilities like roots, travel form, and bear form, I was able to get by with less defensive stats and more evasive maneuvering.

Re-ran your druid, I think the stats were off because he had two MOTW and I think wasn't set on level 69.

Is the druid you came up with:

-9771 HP

-9327 Mana

-255 MP5

-972 SP

-15.98% Crit

-2.48% Haste

A great druid twink, to say the least.

I re-ran my numbers and tweaked my profile (same basic concept though) and came up with:

chardev.org v6 ~ a World of Warcraft character planner

Is the druid I came up with:

-9701 HP (Loss of 70)

-9462 Mana (Gain of 135)

-261 MP5 (Gain of 6)

-1069 SP (Gain of 97)

-9.58% Crit (Loss of 6%)

-4.96% (gain of 2.48%)

As you can see, the profiles are basically like apples and oranges. I traded crit for spell power, haste, and stamina, while you did the opposite. Out of a personal feel, I prefer the latter profile because I rarely ever actually cast HT, and regrowth is only a small part of my healing arsenal. I will probably mainly be rolling LBs and such. More feedback please!

Edit: (Clicking on the profiles above will say they are level 80 but their stats are actually 69, it just displays 80 for some reason >.> if you don't believe me test it!)

LB can crit :D

The only changes I would suggest is definately picking up nitro boosts on your feet. They'll help a lot, esp. indoors when you cant cat-sprint.

I dunno, I found crit useful enough, even without nourish or HT builds, mostly because of LB + regrowth. Seems that some places a good healthy chunk of crit would be better than minimal gains elsewhere:

[item]khorium band of shadows[/item] vs [item] shimmering band[/item]

Lose 7 mp5, gain 3 stam and 3 sp, and 31(!) crit rating.

Yeah, crit does help a ton, but I just feel like I will end up rolling LBs too much and not casting enough regrowths to fully take advantage of that beautiful 16% as a Druid. HT will probably be relegated to NS anti-burst. In any case, I will probably carry a pair of rings/trinkets to swap depending on how I'm playing, but I can also resocket to taste for crit and afford to lose some extra SP. Thanks a ton man for the input overall, really helped to max/min my twink and give me more options.

Edit: Yeah ring choices do make sense. I've been meaning to tweak those around. And thanks for the suggestion with Nitroboosts as well.
