49 prot paladin questions (H)

Pwnadin

Legend
I just dumped literally like 2k on gear to roll in the 39s but found out they're not so active. I've always been a fan of 49s on my warrior back in the day and know you guys have scheduled games

ANYWAY...

Just looking for some good prot paladins to reference. Armory links or guides. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Here's a chardev I recently made of what I feel is a solid prot paladin. Rate/comment/admire etc etc. I did, however, unintentionally avoid intellect for the most part. I tried for a solid health/crit pool and this is the outcome.

A couple of armories off the top of my head:

I know there are a couple of others, but can't think of them off the top of my head.

Intellect isn't a big deal in 49s, as we rarely live long enough for mana to become an issue, even stacking stam. The chardev looks pretty solid for the most part (other than executioner on your weapon -- that's a level 60+ enchant, so you'll need to step down to a TBC enchant).

Fixed. Thanks for the response. I just bought the ring of saviors and waiting to hear back on the shield. Time to start leveling.

From your gear and spec it looks like you're going roll dps prot. Talents judgements of the just and Vindication are huge, imo. Many of the strongest dps in the game are physical dmg beaters.

Since it looks like you have a main, judging from you boa helm, a boa mace for the int+sp is vastly superior to any other - even for a prot pally. Prot pally dmg gets increased from sp, as well as str (but to a smaller degree), however amount of SP on the weapon more then makes up for it. More importantly, Prot pally tanks are tremendously useful as offheals especially when their healer focused on.

Although what bwappo said about int not being a big deal is true, keep in mind that with your build, you'll have significantly less mana then most mana classes. (1700?) So after 5 flashes of light, you're oomed. As a prot pally, I like having enough mana that I can offheal a big fight without running out of heal juice.

I also find http://www.wowhead.c...ks-special-gear useful as well. Better then the seed casing.

One especially nice thing about prot pallies is that we have alot of freedom to play any darn way we choose. Since our gearset (with emphasis towards stam, str, int) dictates our playstyle more then our prot talent spec, we may be the only class spec that can change our style mid BG.

Therefore, I humbly submit my gear choice as well. I say collect them all, make a macro for all 3 sets and swap to whatever is needed on the fly. (horde often times needs a healer bad)

Hope to see you in game soon!

I've been out of the (twink) loop for a very long time. I myself have never leveled a paladin past level 20 so I really wasn't sure what to expect. I will gladly take all the advice I can get. Ironically I just came here to ask if the weekly scheduled games are consistent and still popping? I've been slacking on leveling while getting ready for the upcoming 4.3

On a side note, yes I have access to all heirlooms so I'll have to dust off the mace.

EDIT: Okay so I reworked my chardev -- http://www.chardev.org/?profile=267659

So i took into consideration everything you said. Now my theory is, If I'm stacking so much intellect for the sole purpose of having a larger mana pool, I may as well spec holy. BUT, I acknowledge and understand where you're coming from. In my eyes and outside of the 19s bracket, protection paladins try to utilize survivability while maintaining a decent amount of dps. I'm going to start with this build which grants still over 5k health, just shy of 3k mana, and still keeping my initial goal of 500ap. Fortunately for us 49s we have a larger gear selection from various dungeons, quests and random world drops. 90% of our BiS gear doesn't come from a single quest or three which makes the play style much more fun and flexible. So this is where I'll start and adjust accordingly. Thanks again for your help!

I specced and geared my Prot paladin in full ret gear, with a 1H and shield of course. Very high pressure, very high damage.

Looks good to me. I guess one of the biggest things is experiencing the bracket first hand. I'm at level 20 and slowly working my way to cap. How often do the games pop? I did see several nights a week and was wondering if this was still true. Any information would be great.

Indeed, games still pop for us @ 49's. We get anywhere from 3-5 games on those 3 days a week, as bwappo mentioned. These times have lately gone for about 2 hours.

How come you dont play with us anymore taitaih? =)

Not sure if he will respond but last time I spoke to him I believe he had limited time due to real life and could only focus on one bracket so was focusing on end game pvp or 70 pvp.

and 80s

I'm currently not playing the game at the moment. Work has been busy for the past month or two, it's just that time of year.

49s are difficult to play for me at the moment because of scheduled nights. I just couldn't make them. To keep twinking, I needed a bracket that was active throughout the day, so I ended up settling on 80 since I had a lot of old Wrath toons sitting around. I do hope that someday I will return to my 49s.
