4.0.1... Thought I was set on a 70 twink to build, now i don't know....

Facts first:

I have a BC account (might upgrade to WotLK, more info below).

I like caster classes/specs.

I have mage but it's too squishy once targeted.

I would like more armor, and self heal is just friggen awesome.

Before the patch I wanted to roll a moonkin, get it geared, and start having fun in the the 70-79 bracket. Then 4.0 hit....

On to the questions...

First a general question:

Will a WotLK/Cata account, with XP turned off at 79, be in the same battleground as my BC capped 70? If this is the case, I'll be upgrading to WotLK and turning off XP at 79.

Now the hard question:

Should I roll a moonkin, or elemental shaman? I am mainly interested in the BG aspect of the game, so I don't much care about not being able to do arena at 79.

With the latest patch changes, boomkins have been stomping my sad little mage with only 4 pieces of valuable gear with huge burst. But I notice they after they blow all their CD's to mow me down, then have to run away and heal up and get mana back. An elemental shaman seems to have an unending supply of mana, and will hit me for 70% of my 12K+hp with a lava burst. However they seem slightly easier to interrupt if they don't get the jump on me, since it seems most of their big damage is in casts. Another thing I like about shamans is not having to waste mana shape shifting to heal, but moonkins get HoTs. Pop some heading into a fight and you have a huge advantage to start with.

I'm really torn between these two.

Then one last question I have is regarding upgrading my account:

I saw tons of whining about level 10's and how their resiliance scale is making them so OP. Would I then be better off at 70 with resil in my favor? or at 79 with much better gear?

Help would be so greatly appreciated!

Ron.

moonkins have almost a never ending supply of mana thanks to euphoria. and we dont have a lot of CDs to "mow you down", just treants and starfall but i bet they'd take ur mage down w/o either thanks to a silence and a new new + stronger DoTs. oh and shapeshifting is cheap as heck.

but shaman are also fun and have a bunch of cool goodies (thunderfuck and earthquake). really your call man, both good classes.

as for 70 or 79, yea 79 will be in same wsg/ab/eots/etc so thats a decent point for doing 79. depends on how good the gear is up there though...if theres been any changes or you just get the lvl 78 blue pvp starter set and pewpew, idk. for resil scaling though 70 would be the better choice, since it'll scale better. however i doubt you'd get close to touching the 50%+ damage reduction a lvl 10 can get, even after the resil buff.

Damn. You just made my decision harder to make, again.

I need some more people in here with pros/cons of moonkin and elemental shaman.

Which has better surviveability? Who can stand up to a bigger beating, who's heals work out better? I'm thinking druids HoTs would benefit the fight more... but you have to shift in and out. I've literally changed my mind at least 5 times.. Being sure on 1, then sure about the other. I really have no clue anymore..

Moonkin is pretty OP atm, and like falkor said their shapeshifting is cheap as fuck so if you take dmg you can just run away, HoT up and continue your dmg, and tbh i still use my brutal PVP gear it gives me over 20% dmg reduc and 15994 health. Shamans are alright too, but i eat shamans for breakfast on my warrior.. Moonkins always gave me a ahrd time due to Starfire/Starfall. Starfire crits 7k+ and starfall is just.. wtf. Sooo id go Moonkin if i were you!

I eat warrior's and boomkins for breakfast, im still unbeaten as Ele/Resto, and btw, you can now out heal any 80 mage/wlock/sp with the new dispell in resto tree, fcking sick

To be honest, I was primarily leaning towards a shaman.... initially it was moonkin...

I think you guys might be tipping the scales to balance druid for me again now...

Lets see what some shamans say. I think I'll end up waiting till cata release to see who gets the bigger nerf...

imo go boomkin mate ... much more fun than shammies (my least favourite class tbh) and druids have great flexibility for a variety of situations.

79's will eventually rerock the bracket. die hard 70's will still play in 70-79, but team with most or best 79's will win.
